Indians may have to wait over 150 years for green card: Report

Washington, Jun 16 (PTI): Indians with advanced degrees may have to wait for over 150 years for a green
card which authorizes them to live and work in the US permanently, according to projections by a think-tank.

The new calculation on the Green card wait period by Cato Institute, a Washington-based think-tank, comes after the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently released number of applicants for such cards.

Washington: Indians with advanced degrees may have to wait for over 150 years for a green card which authorizes them to live and work in the US permanently, according to projections by a think-tank.

    under what category it takes 150 years to get green card. I think, it is for H-1B visa applicant and not for family relatives category. For the spouse of US citizen, it takes about 8 to 11 months to get the green card. It used to be 3 months before Trump. However, 150 years is a hypothetical number based on current situation. Things keep changing day by day and this number may change depending on change in political system. I heard that there is a H1-B visa temple in India. Let's keep praying.

    Why worry now.....just read the above news article....India is the only country which can counter USA in development under present Central Government. In a Kannada Daily it is stated that, as per our firebrand MP, India is going to overtake US in development within next couple of years. Therefore, the aspirants of Green Cards instead of waiting, should return to India and start Pakoda & Chai business and be billionaires in no time. Wow....what an idea Sirjee.....!!!

    Parents of Canadian citizens of Indian origin are now made to wait long to get Permanent Resident visa, unlike earlier. Now, I heard the PR visa for parents are issued based on lottery. However, the multiple visitor visa for the period of passport validity is issued on proper scrutiny.
