Beltangady, Jun 16: Former MLA Vasanth Bangera has reportedly called media houses ‘sell-outs’ and also that Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi would ‘sell’ the nation if he continues to be in power. The incident happened during his interaction with reporters at Charmadi Ghat on June 14. A video regarding the same has become viral.

Seen in an angry avatar and lambasting media houses, he said, “I respected media a lot. But, that is not the case anymore. Media houses have lost their respect along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Press and television media has been sold to PM Modi.

“I do not want publicity. Reporters who show the right way to society are respected. You guys have to correct thieves and politicians like me. And that is media’s responsibility. But I want to tell everyone that media houses have been ‘sold’ in the country. Modi must be the prime minister, but this work of keeping media under control does not suit him. If he continues to be in power, he will definitely sell the country. Democracy is being destroyed in the nation,” he said.

    Your frustration and all the south canara candidates for that matter, is visible. But Mr. Bangera losing a seat to BJP after such a long time as MLA is something you have to introspect. All this will be clear in 2019. In any case, you have to wait to fancy your chances again in 2023.

    No2 Educated District gave all but one seats to BJP. Congress and JdS victory constituency is inversely proportional to it's education indexm

    media being biased can be be interpreted in many ways either for the government or against it can happen and this is not the first time too. Criticizing any govt performance is appropriate with a citizen ,but contrary the term selling the nation is highly defamatory . the past pm of this country was seen even on television on independence day and nobody had a problem, my initiation is keep the benchmarks same for all and then evaluate.
    I agree the middle class absolutely is facing difficult days ,are we going the right path that too needs to be understood but the man the PM has a vision every leader leads with the intention to win .....

He also rejected the offer to merge Nepal with India, refused offers made by USA & USSR in 1950 & 55 a permanent seat for India in the United Nations, rejected Oman's offer of Gwadar Port (later bought by Pakistan & sold to China - now a strategic naval base against India).

    This is a democratic country, which runs on parliamentary republic, being out of power makes Congress intolerant.
    Congress should come to power on their own with good leadership and vision rather than whole day criticising Modi and RSS.
