Udupi, Jun 13: “For the first time in Sandalwood, we are introducing a transgender in heroine’s role. Kajal Brahmavar will be playing the role,” said director of Kannada film ‘Love Baba’ Chandan Gowda.

Speaking about ‘Love Baba’, director Chandan Gowda said, “The film has love, comedy, and drama in it. I wanted to give a different look to the film, so chose Kajal in the heroine’s role. Abdul Rehman Udupi, Mahendra Mysore, and Shrinivas are the three heroes of the film. The shooting will be done in Mangaluru and Mysuru. The total budget of the film is Rs 30 lacs.

“Another uniqueness of the film is that the complete film will be shot on a mobile phone. There will be no use of any other professional cameras. This is also a challenge for the crew. The shooting of the film will be completed in 10 days. Vaishak Shashidar is the music director,” he said.

Speaking about her experience as a heroine, Kajal said, “Many promise us about giving opportunities to act in a film, but Chandan Gowda has truly given me this opportunity. Usually, transgender are used for comedy roles and for real life characters. I am very happy that the director has given me the heroine’s role.

“My acting experience in a play named ‘ICU Noduve Ninna’ has helped me a lot in this film. I was the first to enter ‘Rangabhoomi’ from our community in Udupi,” she said.

Kajal is also working as a Radio Jockey in Radio Sarang of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. She has acted in Sandalwood film named ‘Kaala Chakra’ which will also be released soon. She is a good dancer too. She has also danced with Bollywood diva Bipasha Basu.

Abdul Rehman and Ravi were present.
