Beltangady: Youth rescues children, drowns in river

Bengaluru, May 28: A youth slipped and drowned in Netravati River near Koordottu, Dharmasthala, on Sunday May 27. The victim was D Prasanna Gudigar (26) from Kattadabail in the taluk.

Gudigar was taking bath in the river, accompanied by some friends and family members. Reportedly, he sensed that a few children who had ventured into the river, were facing danger to their lives. He rushed to their rescue and sent them to the riverbank safely. Out of exhaustion, reportedly he slipped in the river and failed to recover.

Prasanna was the youngest son of Laxman Gudigar. He was undergoing training in the cooperative banks training facility at Moodbidri. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers. A case of unnatural death relating to this incident was filed in Dharmasthala police station.
