Bengaluru: Hours before polling, IT raids Rajarajeshwari Nagar Congress leader

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (DC)

Bengaluru, May 28: Ravi Gowda, the president of block Congress was raided by the Income tax officials on Sunday May 27 evening hours before the RR Nagar Assembly constituency went to poll.

The officials entered the house of Gowda near BDA Complex in Nagarbhavi around 4pm and searched it till 8.30 pm.

Gowda said that no money was recovered during the raid.

Local parliamentarian and Congress leader D K Suresh condemned the raid at a late-night press conference. He alleged that the IT department was misused by the BJP-led Union government and the sudden raid on Gowda was to tarnish the reputation of the Congress a day before the polling.

He also denied reports that crores of rupees in cash were seized from the house and said all the necessary documents had been submitted.

Responding to JD(S) allegations against the Congress candidate, Munirathna, he said, "We have joined hands with the JD(S) to form the government. We have not tied up to contest this election.”

Meanwhile, the BJP filed a complaint with the Election Commission following Congress’ press conference just hours before the polling.

Honest small tax-payers and salaried with TDS continue to pay their taxes, even as the Income Tax Department starts writing off thousands of crores of corporate tax arrears, according to RTI replies
The Income Tax Department has now started "writing off" thousands of crores of tax arrears by corporate defaulters after apparently failing to recover massive tax dues from them, according to RTI replies. This, despite the fact that the ITD is sitting on a pile of ₹50,000 crore of tax arrears all over India, according to available figures, with the highest—₹33,157.97 crore—due in Pune, Maharashtra, alone.
Under the General Financial Rules, 1963, powers to sanction write-off of the revenue have been delegated by the centre to the IT authorities based on the amount (of write-off) and seniority of the officer.
Experts describe direct taxes as the veritable "bread-butter of the economy". Last year (2017-2018), the total collection stood at around ₹10 lakh crore.

This is the reality of the of the 'Income Tax' department which merely act like tool of ruling political party BJP.

Very very bad & shameless tactics by BJP.
100 % clear that all such IT raids are conducted only on Congress leaders and that
    too before the polls.
Why not a single IT raids on BJP members, ever since BJP came to power ?
Power hungry must remember that their time also will come one day.

Point to be noted that every by elections LS or Assembly are won by congress or other parties except BJP. then how every time main elections BJP winning???

Looks like they fear to set EVM for one or two seats and when its come to complete election they do it.....

Opposition has to be very careful and demand to do the voting on ballot paper for next LS general elections. otherwise Modi company will get more than 400 seats that is for sure.....
