Bengaluru: BJP's bandh call over farm loan waiver gets mixed response in state

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (DC)

Bengaluru, May 28: The Karnataka shutdown call given by BJP's B S Yeddyurappa has received a mixed response across the state on Monday, May 28.

In Mysuru the BJP led by MP Pratap Simha blocked the roads and stopped buses. Meanwhile, film theatre owners have supported the bandh call. No holiday has been declared for schools and colleges.

In some of the places BJP activists were seen forcibly closing the shops. They protested by setting tyres on fire in the middle of the road.

In places like Bellary, Sirsi, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Karwar the bandh call has received mixed response.

Hosapete, Mangaluru, Chamarajanagar and other places have not been affected by bandh call and the movement of the vehicles is normal. In Jamkhandi the BJP has cancelled the bandh call following the sudden demise of Congress MLA Siddu Nyamgoud.

The Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) called for a state-wide bandh in Karnataka on Monday on May 28, if Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy fails to waive off farmers loans.

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy will meet Prime Modi Narendra Modi on Monday. The meeting will be held to seek co-operation from the Center in the development of the state.

The Congress-JDS alliance together with two independent candidates has 117 MLAs, six more than the majority required to form a government in the state. All the 117 MLAs had voted in Kumaraswamy's favour in the floor test on Friday. Congress MLA Siddu Nyamgoud died in a tragic accident on Monday morning.

The floor test was considered significant for the Congress-JDS alliance after the BJP decided not to go for floor test as it did not have the required number of members to establish its claim to run the government.

Yeddyurappa, who first took oath as chief minister, had opted to resign as the BJP was seven short of the simple majority mark of 111 in the 221-member assembly.

    Very Sorry with all politicians.....
I am not with you in Bundh call....
If you want to protest, there are ways to do it. Bundh is against country's development.
I am against farm loan waiver also. If there is bumper crop, will farmers pay more interest?

You had to see the massive bandh in the clean sweep Udupi !!! There were 30-40 jobless boys moving from Kinnimulki to Bus stand shouting anti government slogans and a kilometre long vehicles of public moving slowly from behind during the afternoon rush hour at 12.00pm and cursing these BJP paid boys! Some were even talking like 'Muklek daye vote pododu'!!!. Simply put, people ignored this bandh totally!!

Instead of making a drama to call for Karnataka bandh for farmer loan, BJP must call for all India Bundh for not bringing the black money back as promised in their election manifesto. Every citizen now understand what is the agenda of BJP to come to power by any means. Do they know how much it cost for the state for one day bandh? Same on BJP for causing loss for the nation. Don't be a national waste instead try to build the nation by action not by false promises.

You're funny. Relating everything to Modi. Shows how frustrated you are for not being able to get corrupt parties in power in center. Modi will rule for another 5 years also. So keep crying. People who are having long term vision and good wish for the future will smile seeing Modi as PM.

Bundh is always counterproductive. These leaders are actually anti nationals, who call for bundhs for their own political agenda. There should be a proactive action to safeguard the banks who lend public money and also safeguard the pharmers who incur losses due to extreme reasons.
Bringing the entire State operational machinery to a standstill cannot bring solutions but definitely increase burdens on the people alone.

Why not they give a bandh call on Petrol and Diesel price hike? Are they blind now? Due to hike in these petrol and diesel products, every other commodity price will go too hike, not just the commodity infact everything will go high...... Why not citizens understand this? why blindly support the Government based on Religion ? Even if you are a party supporter, one cannot sit at home and murmer of the difficulties facing , come out strongly and protest for the wise call.... Thankfully by God will's we might have been blessed with few money in our pocket to survive but think of other several crores of poor and poorest people of this country, how will they survive? But unfortunately no one bothers, coz to everyone thinks BJP is for Hindus and Congress is for Minorities. Very bady and stupid mentality.
