Shiv Sena writes to EC, accuses BJP of bribing voters ahead of Maharashtra bypolls

Mumbai, May 27 (PTI): The Shiv Sena on Saturday wrote to the Election Commission (EC) accusing the BJP of trying to "bribe" voters ahead of the May 28 by-election for Palghar Lok Sabha constituency.

In the letter to the EC, Shiv Sena MLA Amit Ghoda alleged that "distribution of cash to the voters to bribe them to vote for BJP candidate" was going on.

Those distributing the cash were caught by Shiv Sena workers, and a flying squad of the EC had conducted a panch-nama (spot inspection), he said.

It was "gross violation of election code of conduct" and therefore the BJP candidate (Rajendra Gavit) should be disqualified, the letter said.

The BJP spokesperson was not immediately available for comments.

Both parties have run an acrimonious campaign for the by-poll, levelling accusations at each other.

If voters are bribed to get elected, imagine how much corruption may be going on ?
See logically, how does the politicians get so much money to bribe?
    New heights of corruption.
If corruption is not reported now as it used to be,
    Corruption is supported and protected!!!

And every politician in Congress party are saints, corrupt free and work for the common man.

I don't know about rest of the lot in Mangalore but Tipu Sultan caused too many atrocities against my ancestors in Mangalore. And this very person is celebrated with a public holiday in Karnataka by Congress party and people of my community.

It's also sad that we konkani people have forgotten the only true konkani leader, George Fernandes, who had the right idea about Congress party.

Not only bribing that is common for them, but most important is hacking or manipulating EVM's… Shiv Sena should write EC to use ballot system.

    Rathan,

Next time, tell both the elephants to reduce their size a bit before coming into Karnataka. You know ? Karnataka is a bit too small, could not accommodate both of them.

So you agree that they r "Elephants "
Don't think that Karnataka is too small for them when both have successfully entered the smaller state line Tripura

I don't remember seeing SS or MNS members in the Maha-opposition. If the PM says those gathered in Karnataka for swearing ceremony, did that out of fear of getting defeated in 2019, what is SS doing here now ? Glorifying BJP ??

Modi gang better realize that its 'daal' is slowly turning into 'kankar'. One year in advance from completing the term.
