Kasargod: Lester D'Souza abduction - another accused arrested by Kumble police

Kasargod, May 27: Relating to the abduction of Lester D'Souza (33), a former Mumbai-based entrepreneur and native of Kadambaru near Kumble, Kumble police have succeeded in arresting another main accused.

The arrested man has been identified as Abdul Latif alias Latti (21), son of Mohammed from Mangalpady Adkabaitala. He was arrested from his home. A cellphone, purse and two ATM cards belonging to Lester and iron rods used for the attack were found from his home.

This operation was conducted by Kumble police sub-inspector, Prem Sadan and additional sub-inspector, Shivadasan.

In this case, Munna alias Munawar (19) from Bandyodu Adka, Sahid alias Zahid (31) from Adkabaitala, and Abubakker Mustaq (19) from Baliyur Santadka have already been arrested. The police said that two more are involved with this case and that they would be arrested soon.

Lester, who was living in a rented house at Bekur had been waylaid by a six-member gang which arrived in a car and motor bike when D'Souza was travelling by an auto rickshaw on May 19. Lester was kidnapped and attacked, it is alleged. Lester said in his complaint that the gang took him to various destinations, during which period he was repeatedly thrashed. He was threatened to pay a sum of one lac rupees by the gang, he had said.
