Bengaluru: State bandh call - Congress complains to DGP against Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 27: Legal cell of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has complained to the state director general of police (DGP) against state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, accusing the latter of giving call for a state bandh in spite of clear stand of the apex court that there is no provision to organize state bandh.

Secretary of the legal cell, Soorya Mukundaraj, gave this complaint on Saturday. He said that in violation of the orders of the Supreme Court against such bandhs, Yeddyurappa had given a call for state-wide bandh on Monday May 28. He pointed out that in James Martin vs State of Kerala case, the Supreme Court had clearly stated that no one is permitted to give call for bandhs. He said that when Kannada activist, Vatal Nagaraj, had given call for such bandh in the recent past, the court had said that giving such a call is illegal. Soorya Mukundraj accordingly has asked the DGP to take action against Yeddyurappa who has been issuing statements on the issue.

In the meanwhile, Yeddyurappa clarified that BJP has not given any call for bandh seeking waiver of loans raised by farmers from cooperative and nationalized banks. In a volte face, he claimed when speaking to media persons at his Dollars Colony residence here on Saturday that farmers had given call for a bandh. He said that BJP will extend support to the bandh call all over the state except the city as election for Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency is being held on that day. He reiterated that his party has not given call for this bandh.

"Before the assembly election, H D Kumaraswamy had announced that he would waive loans of farmers on the very first day of assuming office. Now he is taking a dual stand by saying that his party had not been voted to power with absolute majority. Why is he shirking from his responsibility?" he questioned.

Yeddyurappa said that agitation against the government in and outside Vidhana Soudha would continue till it announces farm loan waiver. "We will discharge duties as a responsible opposition," he stated. He also exuded confidence of winning both Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Jayanagar assembly elections, adding that the people will support his party against the unholy alliance between the Congress and JD(S).

Over 5,000 farmers and their families from Ghogha tehsil in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat have written to the President and the Prime Minister requesting ‘ichha mrityu’ (mass euthanasia) as their land was forcibly acquired by the Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL). The farmers in their letter have requested that they want to be gunned down by Indian Armed Forces.

Return Our Lands or We’ll Kill Ourselves says 5,260 Gujarat Farmers. Is BJP's two days Chief Minister who went to jail in denotification and mining kickbacks will consider the plight of landless farmers?

Thats the problem! when manipulated EVM's and brainwashed people are there, wash out is guaranteed!. Else how you explain the defeat of Madhwaraj, J R Lobo, Vinay Sorake and Abhayachandra!?. They have done so much for their constituencies and helped so many people especially Madhwaraj!!. The strange thing is that, the people who took help from him voted to Raghupati Bhat!!. And Bhat's adventures and misadventures are very well known!!!.
But you never talked about the question of Gujarat farmers which was raised above just like our PM Modi dodges anything that doesnt suit him!!!. Hope you know how much BJP struggled in Gujarat to come to simple majority! Think of next election!!!

Mangalore BJP winning candidate wants to burn his own constituency.
Now BJP's two days Chief Minister wanted state bandh.

The whole idea of the BJP's bandh call is to instigate communal atmosphere ahead of two seat elections to be held.

    1. Where was Yeddyurappa when farmers in his own BJP ruled state of Madhya Pradesh were shot to dead for protesting?
    2. Why is BJP not releasing the support price to the farmers as promised in last union budget?

Do India need 'bandh' to protect farmers interest or support price for their crops?

When Congress protested on JNU and Award Vapasi it was intolerance of congress and infusing hate in the country.

When congress supported the OROP it was intolerance and playing politics.

When candle march taken it was challenge by the mad buffalo Arnab to the opposition leader not to come out to the street in Delhi. 60 years of congress rule was much much better than the rule of the 4 years of this Brashta Janara Party in the Indian History . Shame on PM and supporters.

    Dear Yeddyurappa,

Yes waiver of loans is a must, but whose money will be used to fund the waiver. As it is the new financial bill says banks can say that due to non payment of loans fraudsters like Mallya, Nirav Modi etc in conjuction with politicians who loot our banks, then the banks can say that they will not give depositors money as they are bankrupt.
Now you are saying waive off loans, but big question is who will fund this waiver.
Will it be the central goverment or YOU will bring the money.

Please educate us on this before fooling the public with you impossible idisynconosis. If you are funding and putting your money for the waiver we are happy, but dont play with the public money for your dirty programs

I dont mind for waiver of loans of farmers by Yeddyruppa of HDK. if Yeddyruppa or even YOU are funding it. But I dont want my hard earned money being kept as savings for my retirement and old age being used for waiving off loans at the moods of politicians. Let them use their money. I dont want to be borrowing at my retirement to fund Yeddyruppas idiosycronisis

Todays news says that HDK does not want the old Fortuner car used by Siddu, He wants a new one or will use his dad's. This is the current debate by HDK and co. These fellows have started squandering tax payers money from day one itself. Charter plane to Delhi to meet minister allocation boss, have some shame, farmers are dying because they are unable to pay back loans. Allocate money there now whims and fancies of politicians. A good move by BSY at the right moment .

Santosh shetty. Look at devendra Fadnavis, he waived the loan inspite of advise given by the finance ministry & Maharastra has been emptied of coffers . Maharastra is in severe bankrupt state. This is what yediyoorappa wants for Karnataka. B.J.p has cost maharastra very dearly & Same will be the case , if B.J.P was in power . They were rightfully k
    kicked out.

We Kannadigas would have thought for a while, before announcing these bundhs and how much these affect poor daily wage people, or weekly Shandy businesses. Whichever Leader announces these for their own benefits and not for any welfare of masses. On one hand we cry for Jobs and on the other hand call for Bundhs and remove all short term opportunities, without knowing the one day bundh after effects will be how much! Instead, people must post appeals without bundhs and Leaders must follow up on these instead of bringing the entire operational machinery to a standstill!

Keep it up BSY. We need to have one or more bundhs. The plight of farmers should be known to each and ever one. You have to counter the Cong with their own game. Remember Cong president Raul Vinci had in every speech said farmers are deprived and no one is concerned.

Actually there is no issue at all for Yeddy to give a call for bandh except his ego and frustration!

He knows he will never become CM again and we will see many such foolish things from this corrupt man. Modi himself is clearly against waiving of any type of loans(He has waived his industrialist friends loans is another matter!)

As that will put pressure on state and central finances. But here too, Modi is quiet means what he says in front and what he does behind are exactly opposite!. Bakhts always support Modi and also Yeddy!, now in this loan waived, whom they will support!?

The present CM assure that farm loan will be waived .now they say they did not gotfull majority then why they formed govt when they did not have majority?. So if it is for farmers they require majority but for their own benifits no need of full majority ? All dombarata and nautanki

Do you remember Modi too had given many assurances before polls and also in the manifesto(I have the copy)!?. Which ones he implemented after coming to power!?. Why don't Yeddy do the same against Modi which he is doing now?. Yeddy instead of giving bandh call, He should help HDK by getting funds from centre for loss of finances of state due to loan waiver!. I am sure if Yeddy can do this for his love of farmers, HDK will announce loan waiver tomorrow itself!.
