Bengaluru: Kharge may get important role in state, Siddaramaiah at centre

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 27: To manage Congress-JD(S) alliance in a better way, the Congress leadership, it is said, is keenly considering the prospects of giving veteran Congressman and leader of Congress parliamentary party in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, a better say in state matters. Considering the uneasy relationship Siddaramaiah shares with JD(S) leaders, H D Kumaraswamy and H D Deve Gowda, the party leadership believes that his services could be better used at national level.

The party is badly in need of a leader who is shrewd and experienced, who at the same time, can strike cordial relationship with JD(S) as the party does not enjoy absolute majority in Karnataka. Going by the past history, Siddaramaiah, who was once a part of JD(S), had fallen off with Deve Gowda and joined Congress, thus antagonizing the former Prime Minister. Siddaramaiah has traded many charges against Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy while maintaining good relationship with Deve Gowda's other son, Revanna, who is an MLA.

Mallikarjun Kharge and Siddaramaiah

The party high command, with the above measure, hopes to ensure that personal rivalry between leaders does not vitiate atmosphere in running the government. The party leadership, it is said, wants to give the post of the president of the coordination committee of the two parties to Kharge. This step, if taken, does not ruffle the feathers of Siddaramaiah, the leaders believe.

Kharge had been eying the post of the chief minister (CM) of Karnataka since the last several years, but the central leadership used his services at the centre. Just before the election, the idea of Dalit CM was also coined by a section of the party probably with the aim of projecting Kharge as future CM. Kharge, the party circles hope, will not reject the current proposal as he is interested in playing a major role in state politics and has good rapport with state Congress leaders. The party's think tank also feels that by fighting the next election under Kharge, it can consolidate Dalit votes in its favour.

Siddaramaiah had once fought the Lok Sabha election and was defeated. Reportedly, Congress national president, Rahul Gandhi, has plans of using Siddaramaih’s services at the centre but reportedly Siddaramaiah has not shown interest in this proposal as he wants to remain in state politics. At the same time, Siddaramaiah also knows that it would be difficult for him to coordinate with Kharge once he comes here. A clear picture is likely to emerge within a week on this front.

What ever the Congress leadership plans do it without hurting the feelings of Mr Siddaramaiah. He has a voice in Karnataka despite the defeat. Hope the party will not falter on this.

AN INTELLIGENT MOVE. This should not only serve Congress interests, but should also keep the Jds-Congress relationship healthy.

Vincent. No way maan. He lost his home constituency by 50K votes. He just managed to win another by the skin of his teeth, lesser than 1K votes. He was made to run to HDD by RG and plead to form the Govt. Just look at the agreement where a 37 seat holder becomes the CM. Eventually he was made to be a peon of HDK. What sort of asset is he?

Santosh Shetty. If Siddu lost in his home constituency (like Lobo, Bawa and Madhuvaraj), I suggest get hold of the EVM's used and do an impartial post mortem to see whether the published result is genuine per peoples mandate or it is on FEKU mandate. If BJP has the guts, let FEKU direct the Election commissioner (who are in BJP's pocket, just like judiciary, Reserve bank, Media, IT) to do an impartial enquiry using third party facility - preferably an independent body from Europe or US and let us see what the reality or the truth is.

Not exactly demotion. Parties do it all the time. Manohar Parrikar was asked to lead Goan BJP govt from a defence ministers post.

If kharge is asked to play more important role in State he should have been made CM just like Parrikar and not just a observer from "leader of Khangress in lower house " to state observer.dont compare Parrikar elevation to this proposed demotion of kgarge

Mallikarjun Kharge probably is getting home sick and wants to return to his home state. He must be missing ragi mudde. It must be his own choice to want to return. Health grounds could be one reason if you've noticed, he struggles a bit to walk.

Siddaramayya could be an adviser to Rahul Gandhi when Rahul Gandhi become the PM in 2019. Siddaramayya handled finance very well in Karnataka.

Pappu does not want to learn how to manage finance...

So, let Diggi Raaja continue in that post, instead of Nidde Rama

By the way, Nidde Rama kept Karnataka in a worst finance condition where treasury is empty..

No, Karnataka is only state in the country that shown BJP its place. Else, same what happened in Goa/Manipur/Tripura would have happened and we the Kannadigas would have left like 'Ingu tinda manga'. Oust BJP in one state, future state elections will be fought lawfully than thug-like. And the legend will continue in 2019 too. We don't want cheaters to rule us !

Shame on you BJP guys who got enticed by the false promises of the party. No jobs, no cheap petrol, no return of Black Money - what do you expect in one more year that did not happen in the past four years ? Siddaramayya gave non-scam, non-corrupt full term government, a government of equality than enticement, instead of Yeddy's musical chair rule.

BJP manifesto offered only corruption free government. And achieved it.
Read BJP manifesto and then comment here.

Karnataka has shown BJP its right place by defeating Congress CM and his 16 ministers.

Siddaramiaha is a strong man and a honest leader he'll make an excellent leader at the center.

Siddaramiaha is a great honest warrior in Political Battle ground and very realistic man. Who could take positive decision and having a good Administrator's credibility to Run the Govt. He would fit the bill of Prime Ministeral position of the Country instead of Unfit Rahul Gandhi. Like wise there are many Young Generation National leader's in all Regional parties, who could could emerge as excellent Indian leader's to be better than Fekku Modi's performance based leader's than BJP RSS created Hype.!!!
