Mangaluru: Undertrials create ruckus in prison, police personnel injured

Mangaluru, May 21: Some undertrials created ruckus at the Mangaluru sub-jail in Kodialbail on May 20 late night resulting in injuries to police personnel.

The fight broke out between undertrials in a cell and when the prison officials tried to intervene they attacked them too. The injured were taken to Wenlock hospital.

DCP Hanumantharaya said, "On Monday night when jail superintendent was conducting an enquiry regarding jail inmate Jalal, other inmates of Cell 1 of A-Block suddenly rushed out and put off the corridor lights, tube lights and broke the CCTV camera. In the incident jail wardens Muttappa, Ramesh G and jail superintendent Parmesh sustained injuries on head,"

A case has been taken up by Brake police station, he added.
