Countdown begins for floor test, Bopaiah case in Supreme Court

Bengaluru, May 19: The countdown fir the crucial countdown has begun here on Saturday, May 19.

The Supreme Court will shortly from now hear a plea by Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) against the appointment of BJP MLA KG Bopaiah as the pro tem Speaker to conduct the floor test in Karnataka Assembly.

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has reached the Vidhana Soudha where more than 200 marshals have been deployed to keep peace during the floor test in the evening.

Suspense, meanwhile, is building up over Congress MLA Anand Singh who has been incommunicado, with the party saying he will present for the floor test in Karnataka Assembly at 4pm.

Confident of winning the crucial floor test in Karnataka Assembly, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has asked his supporters to be ready for celebrations after 5pm and says he will announce major policy decisions tomorrow. Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs, who had been camped at resorts in Hyderabad to prevent “poaching” by the Bharathiya
Janata Party (BJP), have reached Hilton and Le Meriden hotels in Bengaluru ahead of the trust vote.

Buses also entered Hotel Shangri-La to ferry BJP MLAs to Vidhana Soudha in a short while.
