Modi behind horse trading by Karnataka BJP - Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, May 16 (IANS): Karnataka's outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of encouraging horse-trading to lure Congress and JD-S legislators to their party for forming the government after the May 12 assembly election gave a fractured mandate.

"Modi and Shah are supporting BJP leaders in horse-trading to poach legislators of our party and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) to prevent us from forming the next government in the state," Siddaramaiah told the media here.

Asserting that the party would not allow the BJP to form a government in the state at any cost, Siddaramaiah said none of the Congress legislators were missing or likely to defect to the BJP.

"We have a plan to safeguard our MLAs, who are together and will not join the BJP, which has 8 less seats for the 112-halfway mark and prove majority," Siddaramaiah said.

Of the 222 assembly segments in the state, the BJP has won 104, Congress 78 and JD-S 38, including one by its ally Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

"We have extended our support to the JD-S to form the new government, with its state leader H.D. Kumaraswamy as Chief Minister. As we have the numbers (118), Governor Vajubhai R. Vala should call our alliance first than the BJP, which does not have the required numbers," pointed out Siddaramaiah.

Both the post-poll alliance partners met Vala on Tuesday evening and staked claim to form the new government in the southern state.

Outgoing power minister and Congress winner D.K. Shivakumar said the party's legislators were intact and none were ready to switch over to the BJP.

Party's senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) met here and passed a unanimous resolution to support Kumaraswamy, who was elected as JD-S legislative party leader earlier in the day.

"We have sought appointment with the Governor to submit our resolution and letters of our party legislators in support our stake to claim power," Azad told reporters at the party office in the city centre.

There is no Doubt that Modi is encouraging and involved in Horse Trading of MLA's. Havent we seen what happened in Gujarat and Goa. He has brought politics to very low levels.

Very true. The allegation of Mr Siddaramaiah holding Mr Modi and Amit Shah encouraging horsetrading is in sync with their Congress Mukth Bharath. Sad that the Governors office is not taking speedy decision on calling the two parties having a majority in numbers beyond the half way mark.

No one has authority to talk about Siddaramiah. Irrespective of results, he is the person who did so many developments in Karnataka. Guys, don't forget the past. Whatever the seats congress got its because of him, he should get the credit for that. It's always our culture to throw stone if some falls in ditch.....He might have lost, but he can proudly walk with his head held high....

What is Karma ? Why knowing history and learning from it is important ?

Karma comes to haunt Congress in Karnataka after 22 years

The year was 1996 & the Gujarat state BJP govt had just fallen thanks to Congress' Governor Krishnapal Singh. Vaghela along with his deputy Dilip Parikh (MLA from my maternal grandmother's birthplace, Dhandhuka) were the masterminds who had open support of Congress to split the BJP & bring the state BJP govt down. They along with Congress resorted to violence inside the state assembly where a no-confidence motion was to be voted & which in all probability was certain to be defeated. Speaker suspended entire opposition for a day. Motion was tabled & govt proved its numbers. But here comes the twist:
Congress Governor declares based on the pandemonium by Congress + Vaghela faction that the law & order machinery had collapsed in the entire state & that there was a constitutional crisis. After having surpassed his constitutional reach & jumping into the executive's functioning, he sent a report to the central govt. Within 15 minutes of the file reaching the then PM's table, state govt of Gujarat was dismissed & President's rule imposed. This immediately after having proved majority on the floor of the house. Vaghela later became CM for just a year & was succeeded by Parikh who remained CM for 2.5 months. Congress pulled out support from both. Fresh elections were held. Vaghela's strength reduced from 47 to 4, Congress was kicked out & Keshubhai was voted back as CM.

How is this story relevant after 22 years in Karnataka? Because those quoting verses of morality, constitutional ethics & conventions were perpetrators of same system.

The Gujarat state BJP chief in 1996 was Vajubhai Vala who today is the Governor of Karnataka. And the PM who imposed President rule was none other than HD Deve Gowda. Cong-JDS today want Vajubhai to be merciful reminding him of his duty. But then there's KARMA

Mr. Modi will be one of the cleanest and honest politicians you will ever have. If you are blaming Mr. Modi you are as well blaming Mr. Manmohan Singh. There are a few selfless politicians in all parties and Mr. Modi is one of them. By the way, I don't care how many readers disagree. BJP won the elections in the state. That is more than enough.

So FAR HORSETRADING WORKED WELL FOR THEM IN N.E STATES,BUT NOT IN karnataka.

One thing for sure this time if BJP comes to power ,it cannot rule the way it decided ,no loots ,because by now all chaddis might have now know to what extent KPCC has got stronger.BJP will miserably rule karnataka.AT THE SAME TIME IF COALITION HAPPENS BY JDS-CONGRESS AND WITH UPPERHAND FOR BJP ,ALL WILL HAVE EQUAL STATUS ,SO PEACE WILL PREVAIL.

what is the basis of inviting BJP to form the govt ? without indulging in horse trading how they can get the required number ? One doesn't need to be a constitutional expert to understand the basics of democracy which depends on number of seats.

Governor is indirectly promoting corruption in the name of constitution. Either invite CONG-JDS coalition or impose president rule for 6 months.
