Dharwad: CBI raids school - arrests principal red-handed

Dharwad, May 15: The principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya here was nabbed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials when accepting bribe from a soldier for admitting his son into the Vidyalaya. The accused stands arrested. He was produced in the court here.

The arrested person happens to be Siddharudh Mhetre, principal of Kendriya Vidyalalya No. 1 at Rajanagara here. Basavaraj Sannapujara, a soldier, had been transferred from Bathinda inPunjab to this place. Basavaraj wanted to admit his son, Chethan, to fourth standard at Kendriya Vidyalaya. When he approached Metre, it i said, he demanded payment of Rs 50,000 by way of bribe or a mixer and five bottles of liquor in exchange for the favour of admitting Chethaninto his school.

Aggrieved by this demand, the soldier approached CBI at Bengaluru. The CBI officials laid out a plan and raided the spot when Mhetre was accepting bribe from the soldier on May 10. The CBI officials produced the accused in the court whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody, said anti corruption bureau of CBI in a release.
