Mangaluru : Individual candidates trying to make an impact fail

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, May 16: Persons who tried to cash in on their individual charisma to influence the voters and get into the political system in the district have miserably failed.

Former deputy superintendent of police, Anupama Shenoy, who hails from Uchila in Kaup constituency, and had resigned from her job to fight against injustice and started her own Bharatiya Janashakti Congress Party, could muster only 1,634 votes. Anupama was hopeful of making an impact on the electorate based on the fight she carried out against injustice. She was allotted the symbol of okra and she had undertaken house to house visits to campaign for votes by travelling by auto rickshaw.

Anupama Shenoy, M C Madan and Srikar Prabhu

M C Madan, who was working as sub-inspector in Bajpe police station and had opted for voluntary retirement from service, had fought as independent candidate from the city (south) constituency. Having been backed by the inclination to undertake social work, he had left his job and hoped to make it big in the election. However, he got only 708 votes.

Independent candidate from city (south) constituency, Srikar Prabhu, who was frustrated at his expulsion from the BJP a few years ago, and who created ripples by succeeding to attract large crowd for his rally, got only 861 votes in the election.

Several organizations had given call to the people to register their opposition to Yettinahole project by opting to press the NOTA (none of the above) button in the electronic voting machine. However, people do not seem to have taken this seriously, going by the fact that people did not resort to this option in a big way. The only constituency where NOTA got sizable votes was in Sullia where 1310 votes were cast in its favour.

We need such leaders in our country. Not like the PM who came so many times to Karnataka for the assembly election for campaigning and along with him was the Yogi baba from UP. What happened in Varanasi flyover by the way Varanasi is the constituency of PM and it is the State of Yogi baba. They should first take care of their house and later come to other houses to take care of them. If the quality of the flyover was not good then what indication it shows only corruption in the constituency of PM.
PM only talking against corruption and actually happening in his constituency.
Can imagine the quality of construction in other BJP ruled states.

    2003 - Congress
    2008 - BJP
    2013 - Congress
    2018 - Hung / BJP

This is the trend in Karnataka since last 15 years. Karnataka people want to change the state govt every 5 years like neighboring stage Kerala and Tamilnadu. But BJP has won only one time in Karnataka in 2008 that also with shortage of 3 seats. This time Modi-Shah utterly failed to get the majority even after making high campaigns in Karnataka. So there is no Modi wave at all.

Indian democracy has not matured enough that independent candidates can make a mark in election.

You still need money and organisational network to win election.

In our state, DK and Udupi districts are highly educated. Always comes first or second in terms of Results. Bothe the constituency give very much importance to Education and we have a very high percentage of Educated Voters. Educated voters over the State have voted for Modi, despite the negative campaign by Congress and the Pro Congress Media & Ganji Girakis like Assking Prakashraj ( who is missing since 11th Night). Congress usually does well in most illiterate belt. be it in the state or central elections, because these poor people really don't know whats happening in the country and how congress looted this country. They get carried away by local Pudari and still think they are voting Indira Gandhi. That's the reason why congress do not want these people to be educated.

This is what you think my friend. Trust me i'm not a supporter of any party be it Congress or BJP. I'm of the opinion that in today's modern world, Religion should be practiced behind the four walls of your home.

If Indians give importance to Religion over Development and Growth, we are bound to fail at the hands of our own people (Politicians) and the westerners and now even the easterners(China) who will take advantage of the communal differences we have.

Its the same reason there is a big turmoil in the Middle East just because of differences in Religious ideologies which the West is taking advantage of. I'm saying this for the benefit of all you Hindu followers my friend.

Open up to the reality of how Politicians are taking advantage of this and covering up all their other shortfalls leading to corruption. The more the Indians give importance to Religious sentiments more we will be isolated and left behind.

It will be only the handful Politicians and Corporate guys who will be benefited. Start demanding for a revolution in the Political System of India. How can you accept someone to rule you who has no clue or qualifications to do so?

I totally agree with you Mr. Suraj. And I pity those couple of individuals who have disagreed with you. It was better for them to think rationally always, how people of all walks of life suffered in various parts of the world under 'selfish politicians', how common peace-loving man was tortured and killed just because a single greedy politician wanted to grab power -all the time!!
How to spread awareness that would reach every individual in our country - so that we all live a peaceful life ??? We can do it. IF....IF....IF only our politicians/firebrands/kingmakers/ government officials are SELFLESS IN THEIR SERVICE. Do you agree with me?

Dear - Thats the whole point here. You really think people are fools.....they chose development against all other odds......Once for all the voters want to stop communal indifferences.......Look at the counter parties glorifying religion, caste, race .......voters are sensible......political leaders need to understand this.......

The only way for the Congress to win elections is to invite clowns and actors who can entertain and lie to the public. That is the only way to beat Modi, find someone who can lie and fool better and provide entertainment at the same time.

Apt lesson to be learn from Bollywood. Only silly nonsense superhero movies end up being blockbusters. Good decent artful movies always end up as flops. Therefore this must be a lesson for the Congress. Bring in entertainers and ask them to lie at rallies. Always follow Modi rallies and start providing better entertainment to the masses. Success guaranteed. Governance, corruption and development has no takers.
