Bengaluru: As parties scramble to form govt, resort politics under way to thwart 'Operation Kamala'?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 15: With the fate of Karnataka literally 'hanging' in the balance, all three political parties - Congress, BJP and the JD(S) are doing all they can to form the government.

With BJP becoming the single largest party just eight short of majority, it will need some sort of support from the JD(S). It is unlikely that the BJP would be willing to sacrifice the CM's chair to JD(S), a demand that Congress has readily accepted.

BJP state president and chief minister candidate B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday May 15 evening met governor Vajubhai Vala and requested him to allow the BJP to prove majority in the assembly. Soon after, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, who accepted Congress' support to form government, also met the governor.

As per sources, the latest development is that the Congress is reportedly taking all its MLAs to resorts in Punjab, Kerala or Andhra Pradesh, in order to prevent the BJP from horsetrading and to foil its attempts to run 'Operation Kamala'.

JD(S) too is said to have agreed to the same arrangement and is protecting its 38 MLAs from being lured by the BJP.

Meanwhile, Kerala Tourism on Twitter extended an open invitation to Karnataka MLAs to unwind in God's Own Country. "After the rough and tumble of the #KarnatakaVerdict, we invite all MLAs to unwind at the safe and beautiful resorts of God’s Own country. #ComeoUtAndPlay," the tweet said.

The JD(S) meanwhile called a legislative party meeting in Bengaluru this evening.

As per the latest trends, BJP is likely to win 104 seats, Congress 78 and JD(S) 38.

When the Congress under Rajiv Gandhi got 194 seats in 1989, he did not form the government. He said the people voted him out as they did not give him 272 seats to form the government.

This kind of high moral ground is to be taken and such traditions must be followed by the Congress.

Just see the pictures, so called No 1 CM is folding his hand and nodding in agreement for everything. I am sure he has fallen to Devegowda feet and said sorry. At least expected some fight from Siddu in forming govt, didn't know that he is so spineless.

    Dear BJP
People have already given their verdict & that's against the congress . If that still want to Do T20 govt, let them. As BJP don't have the numbers, they have to silently sit in opposition this time. Let a see how long this Govt will go . BJP can use this situation to Gain votes in 2019. Do not do Operation Kamala now.

It is Karnataka politics which gave the English language the phrase, ' the last resort'. Ache din for resort owners now it seems! Looks the resort owner will be the winner.

There is something in Deve Gowda's DNA. He was an accidental PM, his son is going to be accidental CM !!

Yo BJP, in case the #KarnatakaVerdict doesn't go your way towards the end of today, please don't throw away those celebration Ladoos you must've procured.

Feed them to the hungry and give them some Acche Din plz.
