Doha: ACC reign supreme in M Pallonji cricket tourney

Doha, May 14: In the Division I of M Pallonji day/night cricket tournament 2018, Asian Cricket Club (ACC) had a well fought victory over CCRC Warriors by 4 wickets. The final was played at the West Bay Cricket Complex, Losail on May 11, under slightly hot weather conditions.

M Pallonji is sponsoring the Veterans’ Cricket League for the 4th time with help from. Chidananda Nayak, regional general manager of M Pallonji.

ACC after winning the toss elected to field which seemed a good decision. CCRC Warriors put up 62 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 8 overs. Thereafter CCRC Warriors could not maintain the momentum and lost wickets at regular intervals. CCRC Warriors were all out for 124 runs in the allotted 15 overs.

Daud was the main batsman who scored 24 runs off only 9 deliveries with 2 sixes and a boundary. Magsi also chipped in with 23 runs with 2 sixes.

Sayyed and Hamid took 2 wickets each, Sagar, Sarfaraz, Adnan, Nilesh and Saleem took a wicket each for ACC.

In reply, ACC started confidently. They scored 76 runs in the first 8 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Firoz and Sarfaraz were the star batsmen who contributed 17 runs each to the score with 1 six and a boundary and 2 sixes respectively. Abrar and Adnan were the other contributors who added 15 runs each to the total.

Finally ACC scored 127 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 13 overs.

Bunti claimed 2 wickets while Ehfaz, Abbas, Daud and Fawu Khan 1 wicket each for CCRC Warriors.

ACC won the match by 4 wickets.

At the well attended prize distribution ceremony, chief guest was Chidananda Nayak, and guest of honour was Sharad Reddy, contracts manager of M Pallonji

Following were declared best of the tournament:

Best batsman: Adnan of ACC
Best bowler: Alban of M Pallonji
Best all rounder: Imran of Hanan XII
Best wicket keeper: Mazhar of CCRC Warriors

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 250 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
