Moodbidri, Apr 24: After Congress and BJP, it is now the turn of JD(S) to feel the heat of rebellion in Mulky-Moodbidri constituency.

On Tuesday April 24, Ashwin Pereira, who is also the president of Moodbidri JD(S) unit, filed his nomination for the upcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate, apparently disappointed over being denied the ticket.

Ashwin Pereira was expecting the JD(S) ticket from Moodbidri but it was given to veteran leader Amarnath Shetty, who had himself expressed his reluctance to contest. Amarnath Shetty then refused the ticket, and in his place, Jeevan Shetty was nominated.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, Ashwin said, "I had received a call from party leaders that I would be getting the B form and I should come over to collect it. But at the last minute, they changed their mind and gave it to someone else. I was not at all informed about all this. That is why I am going to contest as an independent and I know I will win."

Steven Vincent D'Souza, Leo Walter Nazareth, Ravi Poojary, and Abubakker Gundukallu accompanied Ashwin.
