Bagalkote, Apr 24: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah filed his nomination from Badami here on Tuesday April 24 after a massive road show.

Before filing his nomination Siddaramaiah offered prayers at famous Banashankari temple in Badami.

Siddaramaiah will face BJP parliamentarian B Sriramulu, a key aide of the mining-millionaire Reddy brothers.

Badami is the second constituency for the CM as he has also filed his nomination from Chamundeshwari and is expected to take on GT Deve Gowda of the (JDS).

Reacting to reports on Sriramulu being fielded by the BJP against him from Badami, he said, "let them field anyone. I'm not worried about who the opponent is. Elections are fought on ideologies not between persons. We are fighting against communalism, we are fighting communal forces and we want to defeat communal forces."

Congress leaders S R Patil , C M Ibrahim, minister Timmapura, H K Patil and Chimmanakatti accompanied him.

Speaking to reporters after filing his nomination, CM said that he was pressurized to contest from Badami by the people. "The supporters from this constituency pressurized high command too to field me here," he said adding that why there was such hue and cry when PM Modi himself had contested from two constituencies Varanasi and Vadodara. "Even JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy had contested from two constituencies. I do not believe in any survey. I am hopeful of winning both the constituencies, “he added.
