Mandya: Ambareesh retires from active politics; Cong replaces him with Ganiga Ravikumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mandya

Mandya, Apr 24: Actor-turned-politician and Congress MLA of Mandya Ambareesh on Tuesday April 24 announced his retirement from active politics.

The announcement came close on the heels of his refusal to contest the upcoming Karnataka elections on Congress ticket from Mandya.

The Congress has replaced him with Ganiga Ravikumar.

"I have decided not to contest any election as I am unwell," Ambareesh told reporters here.

"I am not saddened by it. I never feel sad. But as I am unwell, I cannot go around campaigning. The word 'rebel' is in my name, I have not sought any help from anyone. It is false news that I visited KPCC president Dr Parameshwara's house seeking ticket," he said.

He also said that three political parties invited him to join them, but he refused. "I never sought ticket to contest this election. Let whoever contest from Mandya, I cannot go for campaigning. I have been identified as 'Mandya's son'. I will never leave this place," he said.

He also made it clear that even if chief minister Siddaramaiah were to request him to campaign, he would not do it.

Good decision. I wish many like him realise their strengthen and retire from politics. Ambareesh is a versatile actor and unfit for politics. He will always be remembered as an Actor only by the people of the State. We wish him good health and thank him for this decision.

Nice person. But old and too sick to be active in politics. Karnataka government had spent more than a crore rupees on his treatment abroad. Good that he is not contesting again. Otherwise we would have spent more from tax payers money for his sicknesses which will increase as age advances.

It was a happy ending made from rebel star actor Ambareesh taking a voluntary retirement from politics.

I am also requesting few veteran party leaders to consider their age factor and make way for younger generations.

CONGRESS LEADERS AFTER 75 KINDLY TAKE VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT.

    R. Bhandarkar sir,

Why you are worried much in congress internal issues, if Ambarish is in or out, it is their internal issue or worry.

if your attitude is joking, do it with everyone, don't be partial or limited to one particular community / party.

    Prakash Sir...

How much do you know about me?

    Don't jump into conclusions.

You are so confused....You write 'It is their internal issue and worry'.... You never

write it is yours... Is it yours...?

Be it joking or otherwise of any party it is my prerogative...dear....not yours...

When a political party is in public domain ...it attracts criticisms too for your kind information.

I will not poke into whatever you say... Have I so far?

And to clarify I never crack jokes on any community....

Good decision and good riddance! Sick and unwell people should not contest and win as they will be doing grave injustice to the voters and development will be shunted! Amby is a spent force and not sure whether he has done good enough work being a law maker in the past! Most film stars are not used to understand peoples needs as they are from showbiz field!
