Puttur: Protest without permission - police personnel attacked

Puttur, Apr 21: In an incident which happened here on the night of Friday April 20, police sub-inspector, Ajay Kumar, and the personnel accompanying him were attacked by an unruly mob that was holding protest without obtaining prior permission from the concerned.

The protest had been organized at Mura Junction near here to register disapproval of the Kathua incident. After learning that a few people were holding protest, the sub-inspector went there along with two policemen. They told the protesters that obtaining prior permission was a must for holding such programmes.

Reportedly, the protesters got angry at this, accused the police of thwarting them from rightfully holding the protest, used expletives against the police personnel, pushed and shoved the policemen besides attacking them, it is gathered.

A case of obstructing government servants from discharging their duties and assault was registered against the accused in the town police station here relating to the said incident.
