Puranic period people had superhuman imagination or prototypes: Tripura Governor

Kolkata, Apr 20 (IANS): Amid controversy over Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deba's claim that internet and satellite communication existed in Mahabharata's time, state Governor Tathagata Roy on Friday said people in the Puranic period either had superhuman imagination or some kind of prototypes otherwise they could not have conceived such ideas.

"In the Puranic period, people had thought of 'Divya Drishti', Pushpaka Ratha' (divine sight, flying chariot, respectively), which means, they must have had superhuman imagination or some kind of prototype. There could be things which are beyond our imagination.

"Unless there was a prototype of something of that type, it was not possible to conceive such a thing," Roy said while responding to a query on the sidelines of the launch of his book "Syama Prasad Mookerjee".

In the 1960s, "could we ever imagine such a thing as a cell phone? Impossible... We could not conceive of it because there was no prototype in front of our eyes," he contended.

Deb had recently claimed that internet and satellite communication existed in the days of Mahabharata.

"Internet and satellite communication had existed in the days of Mahabharata. Sanjaya (the charioteer of king Dhritarashtra) using the technology gave a detailed account and description to the blind king about the battle of Kurukshetra," Deb had said on Tuesday.

Subsequently, the Governor had tweeted: "Tripura Chief Minister's observations about the happenings of the Puranic period are topical. It is virtually impossible to conceive of devices like 'Divya drishti',Pushpaka Ratha', etc. without some kind of prototype and study thereon."

Roy, however, on Friday said: "I have not said there was internet at that time. I have merely said this is a thing worth trying to find out."

As Governor of Tripura, Tathagata Roy is the titular head of an Indian state, holding a position at the state-level that is comparable to the president at the Centre. But a run through of the governor's tweets since he assumed office in the summer of 2015 is completely at odds with qualities such as dignity of office, responsibility, and humility that are associated with high office.
Even those who owe their current position in the government to the politics of Hindutva, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had to dial down their rhetoric in order to maintain the dignity of their high offices. However, Roy seems to have no such qualms.
Roy, a veteran leader of the BJP from West Bengal, was sworn in as Governor of Tripura as per the provisions of Articles 153 and 154 of the Constitution. The same Constitution describes India as a "sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic." A few months into his governorship, Roy declared, "Whatever gave you the notion I am secular? I am a Hindu. My state, India, however is secular since 1976."
If Puranic people had superhuman imagination raises a few questions. Why didn't Abhimanyu ask Quora how to escape the Chakravyuha? Why did Sanjay narrate the Kurukshetra War when Siri could have done it? Also, Krishna really should have streamed the Bhagavad-Gita on Facebook Live.
The biggest issue happened when Yudhisthira refused to make Duryodhana group admin in the family WhatsApp group. Now it can be told.
Roy, a lawyer, engineer and professor, looks upon himself as an educator, and his tweets are meant to enlighten people. But what one can gather from the tweet above eludes us. Since he assumed office two years ago, Roy has tweeted out communally insensitive messages at regular intervals.
This is not even funny anymore. This is a serious crisis, some of our leaders seriously propagating myths and perverting edu system which could impact generations of young Indians.

It would be even worth finding out if there was Beef Ban, Love Jihad, Moral Police, Cow Vigilantes, Anti Romeo Squad and FAKING and ULLU BANAOING during that time?. Blind and Idiot Bhakts are very proud now because Internet and communication existed during Puranic times and it is researched and proved by Yale degree holders under University of Nagpur by BA failed MA passed students.
