After TN governor's pat on cheek, BJP leader posts derogatory remarks on women journos

Chennai, Apr 20: Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit patting the cheek of a woman journalist at a press conference in Chennai created quite a stir. While the governor has expressed his apologies, Tamil Nadu BJP leader S V E Shekher Venkataraman created a new controversy by sharing a post that says the 'governor should wash his hands with phenyl' for touching her.

The derogatory post on women journalists titled "Madurai University, Governor and the Virgin Cheeks of a Girl" which has now been deleted claimed that a woman cannot become a reporter or news reader without sleeping with bigwigs.

"This ugly truth has come out through the complaints raised recently. These are the (using a derogatory word) women who have come out to question the Governor. Media people are the cheap, lowly, ugly, vulgar beings of Tamil Nadu. There are only few exceptions. I respect only them. Otherwise, the whole of TN media is in a regressive path caught in the hands of criminals, rascals, blackmailers," read the post.

Claiming that sex abuse is rampant in the media compared to universities, the post targeted the journalists for questioning the Governor, whose name came up in a ‘sex-for-degrees scam’.

The post claimed that the journalist aimed to "defame the governor and Prime Minister Narendra Modi".

Shared without reading fully: Shekher

Meanwhile, Shekher told a newspaper that the post is credited “From Thirumalai S” and he shared it without reading it fully. He could not delete it as Facebook had blocked his account for 24 hours. He said that he never meant to abuse anyone and has deleted the post.

However, the journalists are not convinced and are seeking action against Shekher. Chennai journalists will protest at BJP's state headquarters against S. VE. Shekhar and BJP's national secretary H Raja, who is also accused of making comments in bad taste against journalists.

All these years Journalist of India who don't report as per the lines of BJP are called 'Prestitude' by its blind supporters . One of the least known word was made famous by BJP's social media cottage industry.

Today once again a Tamil Nadu BJP leader S VE Shekher Venkataraman criticised the woman journalists, who Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit had recently touched inappropriately when he was asked about his alleged role in the ‘sex for degree’ scandal.

Amidst huge outrage, Venkataraman has been forced to delete his post by issuing an apology. His original post had said, “Recent complaints show they (journalists) can’t become reporters or anchors without sleeping with big shots…Uneducated stupid ugly beings… largely in Tamil Nadu media. This woman is no exception.”

The Tamil Nadu BJP leader also went on to rant that the protest by the woman journalist, Lakshmi Subramanian, was primarily to “defame the governor and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He added that “More than universities, sex abuse is rampant in the media. It’s these people who question the Governor.”

Venkataraman then advised Governor Purohit to wash his hands with phenyl since he had touched the journalist. This was in response to the journalist’s tweet, which had read, “Washed my face several times. Still not able to get rid of it. So agitated and angered Mr Governor Banwarilal Purohit.”

Governor Purohit had later issued an apology with a bizarre justification. The journalist had said that she accepted his apology even though she was unconvinced by his ‘grandfatherly’ claim.

Tamil Nadu was rocked by a sex scandal after a woman professor was arrested for luring her students with financial and academic incentives for sleeping with people. She made the reference to Purohit several times in the leaked audio conversation.
Nirmala Devi of Devanga Arts College had allegedly promised to reward her students financially and academically if they agreed to extend sexual favours.

What a shame! Anybody seeing the photo & vid of Governer patting the cheek of journalist will say a great grandfather patted the cheek of his great grand daughter in a bid to escspe a mischievous question. Wonder if yoday the term "supari" would be apt in journalism. Hav they started taking political suparies to create controversies. Pity the level to which the journo stooped for her career.

There is nothing like anti hindu.. in broad day light Parivar ppl are fooling u just by telling 15 to 20% people will be threat to 80% majority hindus. Hinduism will grow and prevail forever and no one can do anything or are will do hurt them but following the ideology of parivar and bjp will effect the image of India and Hinduism. We dont require the parivar ideology to grow like how ISIS has done to islam.

    @Rathan,

The word 'anti Hindu' is discovered by some political leaders to gain the advantage of Hindu voters. Congress has majority Hindus then how can you call it is Anti-Hindu. If you trying to mislead the readers, then you are wrong. We have educated people in this forum as well as the state. But this logic may work in the state like UP, MP etc.
