Bagalkot: Former municipal president of Banahatti held for rape attempt

Bagalkot, Apr 19: Former municipal president of Banahatti, Maulasab Budhihal (65), was thrashed by the people and handed over to police. Allgedly, Maulasab had tried to rape a ten-year-old girl on Wednesday April 18.

It is said that the former municipal president had invited a girl, who was found playing near the compound of his house, inside by offering chocolate. He reportedly tried to rape the girl inside his kitchen. The girl shouted for help at which her maternal uncle, who was working nearby, ran to her rescue.

The locals who came to know about the old man's escapade, beat him up and handed him over to the police. The police registered the complaint given by the girl's family, made inquiries and arrested Maulasab under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
