Mangaluru: Worry for commuters - city bus travel to become dearer soon

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 19: Recently private express and service buses plying in the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada had hiked their fares. Now, Dakshina Kannada District City Bus Owners Association has proposed to increase ticket rates in city buses plying in the city with effect from next week.

The association's office bearers have already met once and discussed the proposal to increase the fares. As per the current indications, city bus fares will go up by eight to ten percent. The increase will be about a rupee for every stage, and in all possibility, the new fares will become effective from next week.

President of the association, Aziz Parthipadi, said that the hike in fares had been affected previously in 2016. "Then diesel cost was Rs 56 per litre. The current price of diesel is Rs 66 per litre. Tax on vehicles, insurance, prices of spare parts, oil, tyre, and other items have gone up steeply. Service conditions and facilities provided to employees of city buses too have improved, putting further burden on our finances. Therefore, we do not have any other go but to increase fares by eight to ten percent," he explained.

Sincere request to the Govt. to first abolish the Pvt. bus operate cartel (mafia). They do not have low foot board, what are the RTO officials doing about this? The bus conductors do not issue tickets to passengers. Even on request they think they are doing a favour by issuing a ticket. Only in Mangalore the city, service and express stop anywhere when someone waves his/her hand.
Once again I remind the Govt. of Karnataka to abolish the Pvt. bus operate cartel (mafia). If Mangalore wants to become a smart city.

Bus fares and rickshaw fares in Mangalore are the highest in the country compared to other cities of similar standard. This is because every now and then these operators manage to get the changes done and the authorities concerned are not able to put any restrictions. Of course the authorities also have their own hidden agenda. Ultimately it is the common man who pays the increased fare.

The on time punctuality followed by these private bus operators are the best in the country. today people dont mind to spare a few penny extra for quality of life , be it food, transport, luxury etc. i am sure the extra penny which we have to pay them will be worth it a thousand times. pls come to cities like mysore, bellary etc and show me the punctuality in time and services of govt buses. you will realise the value of private buses of mangalore.

Stop issuing permits to local operators. Bus services should be nationalized and KSRTC must provide bus service in Karnataka.

Siddaramayya should intervene and hold the price hike.
Each bus is filled with 70 to 80 people all the time, it is enough to cover the expenses and hefty profits to the owners.
or else we should vote Sidhu out!!

Dear Dev Kumjar (blind bhakt), all these are due to illogical policies of Central Govt. It seems Central Govt is only for cows, deers and to facilitate Industrialists. Common citizen is loaded with taxes on every thing. Crude oil price is the lowest in the international market but prices are going up in India on daily basis. Oil dealers especially Ambani have no space to place their income. They have earned in last 4 years more than what they did since last 25 years.

Modiji vision is impractical and implementation is like Taglaq rule. Demonitization itself is the proof.
