Mangaluru: Ilyas murder case- police arrest another accused Umar Nawaf

Mangaluru, Apr 17: Police arrested Umar Nawaf alias Nawaf alias Maya (25) on Tuesday, April 17. He is one of the accused in Target group member Ilyas murder case.

Umar is a resident of Ullal.

Ilyas of Target group was stabbed when he was sleeping at his residence at Miftha apartment, Jeppu Kutpadi on January 13 this year. After seriously injuring the victim, the accused had fled from the spot. Ilyas later succumbed to his injuries.

The police have also recovered a motor cycle and two swords used in the crime. Seven cases including assault, attempted murder, robbery, theft and kidnap are pending against Umar at Ullal police station and a case of theft is registered at Manjeshwar police station.

Accused Dawood, Mohammed Sameer alias Sameer, Mohammed Nasir alias Nasir alias Nachi, Riaz alias Ria alias Iyya and Nameer Hamza have already been arrested and sent in judicial custody relating to Ilyas murder.

Umar was arrested by Pandeshwar police station inspector Sainath M Rane under the guidance from Mangaluru south sub-division assistant police commissioner Rama Rao on directions from deputy police commissioner (crime) and assistant police commissioner law and order.

Mangaluru south PSI Umesh Kumar M N and PSI Manjula, Mangaluru south station staff and Mangaluru south sub division anti rowdy squad helped in the operation.
