Doha: Gulf Lights emerge champions in Gulf Lights Cricket Tourney

Doha, Apr 17: In IInd division of the Gulf Lights Cricket Tournament 2018, sponsor team Gulf Lights defeated Rapidrop by 5 wickets to lift the champions’ trophy.

Gulf Lights winning the toss, decided to field first. It seemed to be a good decision when the opening batsman Jeyu of Rapidrop was caught in the 3rd over scoring 19 runs. Rapidrop scored 48 runs for the loss of one wicket in the first 6 overs. Jiga was the main batsman who contributed 47 runs off 22 deliveries with 5 sixes and 2 boundaries. Other batsmen were Ravi and Akshay who added 25 runs each. Rapidrop scored 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 Overs.



Parvez of Gulf Lights took 2 wickets while Omer, Asif, Maqsood and Sarvar took a wicket each.

In reply Gulf Lights started their innings very confidently and totaled 50 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 6 Overs. Star batsman was Fahad who hit 30 runs with 4 sixes and a boundary, Asif 28 runs with 3 sixes and a boundary while Iqbal Junior assisted with 24 runs with 3 sixes.

Gulf Lights chased the massive target of 175 in 13.5 overs for the loss of 6 wickets to win by 5 wickets.

Jiga of Rapidrop took 2 wickets and Divyesh, Jayu, Vijay and Ravi took a wicket each.

The man of the finals was Asif of Gulf Lights. Sandeep of Rapidrop was adjudged the best batsman, Sarvar of Gulf Lights was the best bowler, Jiga of Rapidrop was the best all rounder and Pankaj of Al Zaman Exchange as the best wicket keeper.

At the prize distribution ceremony the chief guest Sanaullah, managing director of Gulf Lights distributed the winners, runners-up trophies and over 300 prizes.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. The prize distribution was interrupted twice by thundershowers where the arranged Tent was a savior.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for all spectators.
