Kasargod: Journalist names newborn after Kathua incident victim - FB post goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Apr 15: A small tribal girl from Kathua in Kashmir had become victim of lust and cruelty. People, organizations, and leaders have been holding protests across the nation against this incident. To pledge solidarity with the victim of this incident, a Malayalam journalist from Nileshwar has christened his newborn daughter after the victim of the said incident.

The post created by the journalist in question, Rajit Ram, which appeared along with the photograph of his daughter, has come in for lavish appreciation. Within a few minutes, this post was liked by over 25,000 and shared by 16,000 Facebook users.

Rajit Ram from Nileshwar, who works as sub-editor for 'Matru Bhoomi' from Kannur, announced through his post that he had named his daughter as Asifa S Raj. He said he took this decision because of his inner urge that the Kashmiri girl who faced this ordeal should get justice. His post has also drawn applause in Kashmir where people have praised his initiative and debated on the post.

Rajit was blessed with second daughter in February this year, and he was in search of suitable name for her. The name, 'Asifa' appeared to suit him after the cruelty faced by the eight-year-old became public.

I highly appreciate the Hindu journalist keeping a Muslim name for his daughter to pledge solidarity with Ashifa. It is a heart-wrenching incident and the whole India is saddened. The child was kidnapped, drugged, kept captive for days and repeatedly gang raped and then brutally murdered. I can’t imagine what was going thru’ with the child. This incident would put even the devil into shame. She did not even know what was going on against her wish. She craved for her parents to come and help her which is the first thing a small child expects in her pain and fear.

Our PM keeps on saying our daughters would be protected and the rapists take his warning as challenge and keep on raping the daughters not caring whether they are adults or minors. Within days from Asifa’s rape and brutal murder, two more minor girls were raped and murdered, one in Surat which is a direct challenge to the PM and other one had 87 injuries on her body. If a person feels lusty when he sees an eight-year old child, then he is a maniac and should not have right to live in this world. When a dog becomes mad, do we keep him alive? I know the rapists and their instigators who have huge political clout, have support from some corner but we Indians should defy them and see to it that Asifa and Asifa-like many children who become victims of lusty men get justice.

Are we living in India where noble men like Gandhiji, Swami Vivekananda, Gautam Buddha, Mahaveer, etc. lived? Our culture tells us to look at women in highest esteem but our women are not safe even in their own home. In fact, our country is the worst place for women to live in. Despite Nirbhaya-like case which drew huge attention from India and abroad, followed by protests in many parts of India, there is no sign of rape cases are brought under control. In fact such cases are increasing. I don’t think Ashifa’s rape and murder and the public protects would make any difference.

Accept BJP leaders and RSS members, the whole India showing the gratitude for Kashmiri nomad girl 'Aasifa' gone through.
Mr. Rajit Ram is one exceptional father among those Indians who are with the 'Aasifa'.

I wish the newborn with bright future and protect her from evil which 'Aasifa' suffered.
I appreciate Ram for this gesture when India is going through toughest time were 'Aasifa' father lost two sons in accidents and adopted sister daughter who is about to join school is departed forever.

Not really , this person lives in the extreme south he most probably never knew that a place called kathua even existed before . This news is very much sensationalized and every other person wants to be associated with it some how and grab the lime light ,also the fact that this person lives in a place where Muslims are in majority adds to my assumption that he is only trying to gain attention ,his fb posts was liked by over 25 k , i bet there are all from Kasargokd till Mallapuram , check and find out for yourself .

What have you done to express solidarity with Asifa and her family?

Instead you have taken upon yourself to criticize the initiative taken by this young father who has had the courage to name his daughter after the raped, mutilated and murdered Muslim girl; which you call publicity stunt, while sitting smug in Tel Aviv.

It is because of many apathetic people that Indians have to suffer by electing a government who supports thieves, rapists and murderers.

Well done dear brother. Its shame that we have cruel people who are not sparing baby girls to fulfill their sex thurst. Its shame on the part of Justice system and Govt that such animals are not arrested and they are enjoying freedom. In case there is some humanity in our Govt and Justice system, these two animals should be hanged to death and handover to public immediately to give justice to the victim.

Really sick of this.I am also a father of daughter but that doesn't mean you have to propaganda against whole community.Every religion has their own psychic people.Rapist doesn't have religion and don't fall pray for these media coverage.I clearly demand harsh punishment for rapist but that doesn't allow me to politicize this rape?where are these people when rapes are happening against child and in further days we doesn't even remember child name and only see as a child was raped by hindu.
