Telangana chief minister KCR meets Deve Gowda, discuss proposed front

Bengaluru/Hyderabad, Apr 13 (IANS): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday discussed the proposed people's front with former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda in Bengaluru.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief, who along with some top party leaders reached Bengaluru in a special aircraft, called on Janata Dal-Secular leader and discussed national politics.

Deve Gowda's son and former Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and well-known actor Prakash Raj were also present during the meeting.

KCR, as Chandrasekhar Rao is popularly known, later told reporters that he came to Bengaluru to seek Deve Gowda's blessings and the JD-S leader extended his support to the initiative to form a front.

He reiterated that the front was proposed not to play "silly politics" but was aimed at bringing qualitative change in the country's politics. He said the front would bring together farmers and masses of India.

KCR said both the Congress and BJP, who together ruled for over 65 years, miserably failed to deliver. He said the national agenda of the proposed front will be unveiled before 2019 and any party who agrees to this agenda can join the front.

"Whosoever agrees to agenda will be welcomed. We will provide room for everybody," he said.

Deve Gowda is the second key leader KCR had called after proposing the front. Last month, he had discussed the proposal with West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Prakash Raj had also extended their support to KCR's efforts.

Meanwhile, KCR declared his support to JD-S in the next month's Karnataka elections and appealed to Telugu speaking people living in Karnataka to vote for it. He said he was ready to campaign for the party in Hyderabad-Karnataka region and wherever his services were required.

Referring to Cauvery water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the TRS chief said the inaction and inability of Congress and the BJP was to be blamed for this and other inter-state water disputes. He said though India had 30,000 TMC excess water, there was no water for drinking and for irrigation in many parts of the country.

When Leadership question arises all efforts will be in vain. Simply waste of time. First of all come to conclusion that who is next PM. Then start.

That is exactly the trap BJP wants to lay for the opposition. However, parliamentary democracy does not require individuals to face off but only political parties to do so. In the past opposition parties united to defeat the Indira Gandhi led Congress party only on 'issues' and they did not have any PM candidate face pre poll.

BJP think that Modi's image will last forever that is why they taunt the opposition with "Who is your PM candidate" because personality wise he has an advantage as of now. However, parliamentary democracy is not like a boxing match between two individuals where the stronger more powerful person wins. It is performance and delivery on national issues that matter. Religion and speeches will not give people jobs or food. Not every time will people vote on personality. This time around they might vote on issues of unemployment, government defending accused people, Dalit atrocities, communal disharmony, unstable governance, economic failures, Banks slowly collapsing, Nirav Modi type NPAs, farmers distress, chaotic situation in the country. Modi's image has already taken a heavy beating in the last couple of months so don't be sure that if the Opposition do not have a PM candidate pre poll they cannot beat the BJP is LS 2019. Cometh the hour cometh the man/woman. I believe PM will be chosen post poll if united opposition coalition win and he/she could be from the party winning the maximum number of seats.

TRS is a poisonous snake. TRS are supporting communal BJP indirectly in the guise of a third front which excludes the Congress party. Prakash Rai will bitterly regret if he feeds milk to this snake. We are surprised that a person like Prakash Rai who is anti communal cannot see through KCR's agenda which is to weaken the Opposition against the BJP for LS 2019 (by excluding the Congress) and also to appease the BJP to protect and preserve his own party's power in Telangana assembly.
