Mangaluru: Manipal School, Attavar holds cycling camp for children

Media release

Mangaluru, Apr 9: To get more children cycling to school, Manipal School, Attavar brought in cycling experts WERC (WE R Cycling) to train children in the nuances of cycling on March 31, April 1, 6 and 7.

Children were shown how to maintain and care for their cycles, road safety and how cyclists should navigate traffic and most importantly, how cycling as part of a healthy lifestyle can keep everyone very fit. With childhood obesity skyrocketing in the city and around the world and hitherto rare disorders like juvenile diabetes affecting scores of children, this workshop with WERC was indeed a necessary one.

An obstacle race was organized within the school premises and a mini rally to spread awareness for a ‘Green Earth’ was conducted for the cycle enthusiasts. For the academic year 2018-19, principal Anuradha Shivaram expressed her hope that more children will join the school cycling club, take part in local/national/international races and start riding to school regularly. In this regard, experts from WERC will be there for guidance and support.
