Mangaluru: Congress to use Janardhana Poojary to counter BJP’s Hindutva card?

Mangaluru, Mar 23: As the election fever is gripping Karnataka, all the political parties have intensified various strategies to win the upcoming assembly polls by effective campaigning.

Both the Congress and the BJP are in a do or die situation. As the BJP has been playing Hindutva card in coastal Karnataka, the Congress is all set to counter it by using its veteran leader and former Union minister Janardhana Poojary in the final leg of campaigning, say party sources.

During his recent visit to Mangaluru, AICC president Rahul Gandhi' met Poojary at Kudroli temple. It is said that the former union minister discussed about the ongoing situation with the new party president.

Sources said even chief minister Siddaramaiah conveyed the same to Rahul Gandhi to effectively use Poojary in the campaign in twin districts. Hence the party is all set to campaign ahead of assembly polls with Janardhana Poojary though the latter openly criticised some of his own party decisions.

In the 2013 assembly elections, the Congress had managed to win 7 out of 8 constituencies. But as per the recent surveys by the party, Congress may face tougher competition from BJP. Hence, the party has decided to use the senior party leaders like Poojary.

Janardhana Poojary belongs to Billawa community. Congress is eyeing on this community as Billava votes are very crucial for victory.

    So it shows the compassionate heart of his,he wants to re unite all and treat as a family.I am sure he came to know about Jananna being left out by his party leaders.

    Because he always studies that particular area and its politics before entering that city.So he might have definitely known this sidelining issue of JP. After hugging RaGa, Jananna was crying badly soulfully.It looked like he was expressing that atleast someone from congress care for me.

    One of the main concern in mangalore two sensitive community from both majority and minority is getting abused.Billawas are used in crimes and beary youths are either involved in drugs or becoming drug peddlers.Both community leaders must approach senior congressmen in Bengaluru.

    Both community have strong hold in DK ,must vote for Congress.We are TRYING our best to raise anti drug awareness.WORST PART IS RICH PARENTS ARE TELLING TO HIDE THEIR CHILDREN NAME AFTER THEY ARE CAUGHT IN THEFT OF NEIGHBOURS EXPENSIVE ITEMS JUST TO BUY THESE DRUGS.SO ALARMING!!!

    is congress secular or not? if yes then why they are using religion/caste in election. why they use vote bank politics? as far as my understanding in democratic system who use religion/caste for votes they called as communal. but regret to say that now a days there exact meaning for secularism. bcoz people who fight in the name of secularism are always use religion/caste for their benefits/vote bank politics.

    Since last 3 years Janardhana poojary has not talked a single word against BJP or Sangha parivaar. All the while he has been cusing only his own prty's Sidddaramayya. If if he is asked o campaign for Cong then by force of habit he may continue to find fault only with Siddramayya and drive away Congress Votes. Besides he has no hold over even one thousand Billava votes in the District. Then how he will be an asset for Congress?
    In fact he will be a big liability for Congress.

    Based on simple math, all Congress need is to get about 25% of the so called minorities vote which comprises of about 30% vote share and another 25% from the 70% majority pool. If Congress senses that it may be hard to get about 25% vote share from the minorities, all they have to do is make good that loss by trying to gain additional vote share from the 70% majority pool. By creating a new religion Lingayat, they just did it. Unless BJP comes out with something dramatic such as fielding good candidates with clean record, impressive manifesto etc., Congress will likely have enough numbers to form the next government. It might be a close fight in many constituencies, but simple math favours upper hand for Congress. By the way, I am not a Congress supporter.

    in a democratic country & in a democratic system, people have the freedom/rights to select & elect the candidate to whom they like. the religion wont disturb their rights. but now seculars using religion for vote bank politics. if the particular religion support & elect the particular political party/candidate then why election is required? some people sometime use secular card but at the back end they always use religion for their game plan.

    I and my family will surely vote for the Achievements of Siddramayya. Because among all the Chief Ministers of India Siddu is the best CM.
    I will vote for Cong, not because of Rahul Gandhi but because of Siddu. After Devaraj Urs our Siddu is the best CM Karnataka ever had. But petty caste-biased people of Coastal Karnataka only see his caste and not his achievements.

    Indeed Hindus are most innocent and they welcome other religions & beliefs. But this innocence has proved very fatal to us since history. Kashmiri Pandits being deprived from their own motherland, conversions in Kerala and other conversion tactics in the name of social services, Love Jihad etc. But now majority of Hindus have learnt lesson and definitely we are cautious and mindful as far as our future is concerned.
