Udupi: Second Indira Canteen in district inaugurated

Udupi, Mar 23: The second Indira Canteen in the district was inaugurated by district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj on Thursday, March 22.

The canteen is located at old taluk office here.

On the same occasion, minister Pramod launched a new initiative of the state government ‘sodium street lights free city’. The CMC will convert 1,824 sodium lights of 35 wards and use LED lights in its place. Through this, the CMS can save Rs 53.36 lac and 8.21 lac units of electricity.



CMC Commissioner D Manjunathaiah, president Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, vice- president Sandhya Thilakraj, Udupi district Congress president Janardhan, CMC councilors Ramesh Kanchan, Amrutha Krishnamurthy Selina Karkad, district Congress president Janardhan Thonse, Block Congress president Satish Amin Padukere, Janardhan Bhandarkar, nominated member and others were present.
