Udupi, Mar 20: A major fire broke out in a hardware shop in Manipal on Tuesday, March 20.

Paint cans and hardware items stored in two rooms of the shop have been completely destroyed.

Fire fighters took long time to extinguish the fire as the fire was huge.

Some sources said electric short circuit was the cause of fire.

The loss is estimated to be in several lacs.

    Electricity short circuit always have an impact pf this kind of massive fire break down but fortunate that no human life lost in the accident.

    Authorities where is the safety measure in the building....? 99% of building in Udupi are not having a Fire extinguisher

    This is the Fate of our municipality " To Build House in my own land Authority are asking for 100s of papers I been roaming for 1 year to get my work done with legally....


    By God's Grace, we haven't lost any live please wake up!!!!!! we don't like to see such a loss and incident in udupi again.....

    this s our development till all burns and destroyed cant see any fire service and police department over there, if city not get these facilities then where other place will get fire service facility. no life security for people . after accident ambulance not coming proper time ,after taken to hospital also other then manipal no hospital available for accident victims. only we can see big building and hotel in Road side but not fire service station and hospital and ambulance with proper facilities .

    It is most unfortunate that a major fire broke out in a hardware shop in Manipal. Thank God there were no casualties but a big lass to the owner of this shop. I hope he had insurance or other means to cover for his loss.

    Generally commercial shops take fire insurance cover for stock value against such unforseen happenings...if the shop owner has credit facility from bank,it is mandatory to have fire surence policy for full stock value with bank clause.
