Dubai, Mar 20: Konkani music legend Michael Simon Pereira, fondly known as Mike Simon, who succeeded in making permanent nest in many of music lovers hearts through his hits like ‘Lavina’, ‘Maria’, ‘Dream Boy’ and many others, will be the star of attraction of the upcoming Band Charitra live in concert, to be held on April 13 at Sheik Rashid Auditorium at 5.30 pm.
Michael Simon Pereira was born in Mangaluru on February 18, 1952. His parents were late John and late Agnes Pereira. He was the only child of his parents. He pursued his education at the prestigious Milagres High School, Mangaluru. After matriculating, he joined ITI, but his interest laid in music. Influenced by late Henry T D'Souza, he learned musical instruments. Gradually, he started singing and performing on stage.
Mother Konkani has never been devoid of children who have taken as their lives’ mission to sing her laurels in chiming music and rhyming words. Mike Simon is one of those worthy sons of Mother Konkani whose sole desire in life is to sing Konkani songs, capture them in cassettes and CDs and popularize them among Konkans wherever they reside. Singing is Mike’s passion, his mission and his obsession.
Later, Mike Simon married Matilda and has two sons Linton and Milton and a daughter Milinda. Currently, he happily resides at Hill Nest, Kankanady, 1st Cross Pumpwell, Mangaluru.
Though Mike Simon’s compositions are limited in numbers, they are eternal. Each and every song of his has captured thousands of music loving souls.
With the accompaniment of his musical instruments and with the encouragement of his friends, Michael started composing his own songs in Konkani and now is proud of a repertoire of his own 200 songs. Besides, he has produced two audio cassettes of his songs that are quite popular in Konkani community. Michael has also composed a few songs in Tulu.
The enterprising streak in his character made him to establish a music group called ‘Sunlight’ in the year 1970. In course of time as the group slowly faded away, he revived the same in 1987 with the new name ‘Spell Binders’.
And now, Mike Simon will perform live with the young and energetic band from Mangaluru ‘Charitra’ along with renowned singers Joseph Mathias, Lavita Lobo and Akshada Talulikar at the live concert.
Kuwait’s comedy trio Steven Machado, Lancy Rodrigues and Jaison Lasrado will tickle the funny bones with rib tickling skits.
Well known dance troupe Ocean Kids will entertain with scintillating dance performances.
