Udupi: 'An Evening of Parables' dance musical staged at Holy Family Church Brahmavar

Udupi, Mar 19: The parish pastoral council of Holy Family Church, Brahmavar organised the 3rd'An Evening of Parables' (Voparanchi Sanj), a Konkani and Kannada dance musical composed by Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza (Pamedi) at Holy Family Church grounds on Sunday, March 18.

The programme was organized as part of the Lenten observation. The colorful and biblical inspirational programme was witnessed by devotees from the parish and from the neighboring parishes.



The event portrayed the Biblical parables of 'The Prodigal Son', 'Foolish and Wise Virgins', 'Lost Sheep', 'Three Servants given Talents' and 'Four Types of Soil’. Various artistes performed the drama to the accompaniment of background music, song and dance. The show was written and directed by Fr Melwyn Paul D'Souza and choreographed by Suresh Attavar. The artistes were from Chakrapani Nratya Kala Kendra, Mangaluru and students from Nazareth School. The professional artists gave a wonderful performance, displaying their artistic skills to narrate biblical parables with lots of feelings and emotions.

The programme started with a prayer dance. In the formal stage function, Fr Victor Fernandes, parish priest, Holy Family Church, Brahmavar, Fr Roshan D’Souza, assistant parish priest, Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, superior, St Anne’s Fairy, Fr Victor Crasta, assistant director, Sandesha, Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, vice-president, parish pastoral council, Antony Barnes, secretary, parish pastoral council, Alphonse D’Souza, director, 18 commissions of the parish, Sr Magi Fernandes, and Suresh Attavar, Chakrapani Nratya Kala Kendra were present on the occasion.

Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, welcomed the gathering, Fr Derick rendered the vote of thanks, and Angeline Menezes compered the programme.

Suresh Attavar of Chakrapani Nratya Kala Kendra was honored by Fr Paul Melwyn and Fr Victor on the occasion. All donors and the supporters were also recognized by the organiser.

On demand from devotees, the fourth show will be arranged shortly in Mangaluru.
