Bengaluru, Mar 16: Former chief minister Dr M Veerappa Moily has stirred a hornet's nest with a tweet alleging the role of money were in the selection of Congress candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections, and hinted that a 'nexus' between the state PWD minister and the road contractors was determining the selection of candidates.

Veteran Congress leader, M Veerappa Moily, who is the chief of the manifesto committee of the party in the state, has openly come out with his criticism at PWD minister, Dr H C Mahadevappa on the issue of allotting party tickets.

In his tweet of Thursday March 15 night, Veerappa Moily said, "INC needs to solve money in politics. We can't afford to have road contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections."

However, Moily deleted the tweet after it began raising eyebrows, but his son Harsha Moily, who is also an aspirant for party ticket from Karkala constituency, posted the same tweet. Harsha too deleted the tweet.

Veerappa Moily even disowned the tweet and said that it would not happen in future.

Moily had tagged his tweet with the official twitter accounts of national president of his party, Rahul Gandhi, party high command, and Karnataka Congress. It is said that by doing so, Moily wants to bring to the attention of the party high command the developments taking place in the state Congress over the issue of ticket distribution. However, party insiders say it is nothing but pressure tactics to secure a ticket for his son, which the Congress is reportedly reluctant to do.
