Karkala: St Joseph’s Church Belman hold decennial celebration of Women’s Day

Karkala, Mar 15: Women of St Joseph’s Church Belman celebrated Women’s Day on March 11.

The celebration started with Holy Eucharist at 7.30 am. Fr Roy Lobo, assistant parish priest celebrated the Holy Mass. Fr Edwin D’Souza, parish priest blessed all on the previous day as he could not be present on Sunday on the occasion.

After the Holy Mass, Fr Roy presided over the stage function. He highly appreciated women’s team spirit in the work of parish, society and in the family.

Alwyn Agera, vice-president, Faustine D’Souza the secretary and Sr Pauline Saldanha, the animator were the dignitaries on the stage, Joyce Tellis was the compere for the day and Sunitha Noronha, the president of the association, welcomed the gathering.



Benedicta Noronha, the secretary, presented a short report on the activities of the association.

Euprocin Agera was honored for bringing 11 children and settling them with good education. Nivita Cardoza was congratulated for her success in Karate in India and abroad and gifted a shawl and wished success in future.

Alwyn addressed the gathering shortly saying women can spread the joy and contentment in families.

Sr Pauline boosted and thanked the women present for their role in the church and advised them to visit families and have special concern towards sick, aged and wayward.

The women staged an entertainment dance by Swa-Sahaya Group and spot games were conducted. Precilla D’Souza graciously rendered the vote of thanks.

This was followed by prize distribution and refreshment.
