Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Mar 14: The district Congress has issued a show-cause notice to corporator Pratibha Kulai for appearing in a debate on a national television without the party's permission, and allegedly embarassing the party by doing so.

Harish Kumar, president of Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee issued the notice on Tuesday March 13.

The notice states, "Besides being the corporator of Mangaluru corporation, you are the chief secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress committee. You have attended a debate in the studio of a national TV channel without taking the permission of the district Congress committee or the state leaders. Moreover, the debate you took part in was embarassing to the party.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Pratibha Kulai must have had a good reason to attend the Debate; however, she needs to clear the air by answering the summons by the Congress Leadership as to why she participated without the Party's prior approval. In every organisation there are ground rules; does not matter how important is the person. If Pratibha has made a mistake, she has to own up and apologize. She has not been sacked; she has been queried by the Party.

this subject concerned to women harassment. She deserved right to express her perspective in the public forum.

Prathibha madam is highly qualified women from OBC category. She was discussing the subject molest or misbehaviour party secretary did with her rather tarnishing party image. We should support her as brave shown and I request every woman come up with the same stance Moreover congress party should respect her grievance in lieu of issuing a notice to her. ... I have seen the debate and she has not spoken about the party. It's Sattar, who belittled Pratibha in the debate. While, I denounce the stand taken by Pratibha in the earlier issues, I appreciate her for resisting such advances by Sattar and openly expressing her angst about such incident.
Bava should welcome her and give a suitable post, so that his seat is not in danger.

While it comes to women harassment is concerned it is her individual right to express her views in public forum. She is is the aggrieved women and has a right to express her views. She is not discussing a party matter in public but the matter of harassment done to her. Party should respect her right instead of issuing notice to her.

Whatever certain done Lady Singham has got guts. On TV she clearly said: Her family and her image (Maana, Maryadhe) is more important for her than politics.

    Ivar,

Have you seen anybody from BJP with the exception of Modi & Shah giving TV interview ? Why are you jealous of the Congress leader when protocol is maintained ?

Well, the party does not say 'you were barred from', but asked 'why participate without permission'. That too when its said that she embarrassed the party (apologies - I didn't see the broadcast, I can't comment on that).
