Bengaluru: Mangaluru pub attack case – Government to assess fruitfulness of appeal

Bengaluru, Mar 14: State home minister (HM), Ramalinga Reddy, stated that he has been kept abreast of the developments in the pub attack case of Mangaluru involving moral policing. Speaking to media persons at Vidhana Soudha, he said that the charge sheet would be studied to check whether it had any shortcomings.

"I understand that girls who were victims of the pub attack did not come forward to adduce evidence in the court. All aspects of the case will be studied and information collected before taking a decision about going on appeal or not," he clarified.

About the allegation of director general of police (prisons), H N Satyanarayana Rao, having extended illegal facilities to Tamil Nadu politician in the prison here in return for favours received, he stated that the city crime branch is investigating the issue and that once the report is tabled, it will be studied.

Relating to the issue of addressing a letter to ADGP R P Sharma, he contended that the chief minister has the power to write such a letter.

    Whomsoever from Mangalore wanted his sisters and daughters to live with peace,dignity and full liberty should come out in one voice and ask the government to re-appeal this case in the Supreme Court.
    We Mangaloreans want Judge Manjunath voluntary retirement for giving unbiased judgement. This judgement is the against the ethics of the India's Justice system.

    Judgement itself looks like some political smell on that ?how can all culprits go on free after all so much evidence on video and many other call details of them before they attack the girls in pub.

    In-Camera evidence with protection to the victims should be provided. The courts cannot be blamed if witnesses do not come forward for various reasons. It is the business of a responsible government of the day to ensure that "Truth Triumphs" and "Justice is not only done but seen to be done". When the pictures of Moral Policing shook the whole nation and the world at the lawlessness in a peaceful state like Karnataka, how could the Government take this case so lightly? It is shocking. The government should pursue and see action is taken. It is a failure of the Government of the day.

    It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilty be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in Mangalore that they cannot be punished, what a shame.
    What more proof the judge requires. does he want all the innocent to stand nude in front of him for this incident.

    The law and order in Ktaka Govt is at the worst .As always the HM is clue less. Unfortunately or fortunately the cops have not found a Bakra like Hotte Manja to blame and conduct a narco test. Else, surely they would have done this. Some rowdy sheeter from Tumkur would have been arrested .
    Moreover the State Govt knows that their supporters would start blaming Modi , so they are safe.

    It is a matter of great concern and anguish that in spite of having seen everything on video, the judge considered it prudent to let off the culprits for want of evidence. While fingers have been justifiably raised at the government for trying to shield Muthalik, what message does this verdict send to the people of India? That no justice can be expected by the people as long as the politicians have an axe to grind. What is the use of having such unscrupulous politicians, whether from the BJP or the Congress, if people can't get justice?No doubt, the self-styled moral police will be emboldened by this verdict and the judge should introspect and ask his conscience - if he has one - if he is worthy to continue to remain in his seat after this totally horrendous verdict.

    Altimately, judge is also having indian blood running in his vains and enjoying government salary, which we poor are sharing. You cannot expect better justice unless you can spend huge amounts to expose the truth.

    These studies, committees, investigations all time passing and there is no results. Need of the hour is we need instant justice that will remain intact in the minds of people. Like Bhasakar Shetty murder case people almost forgotten what happen in the past !! May be new judge will come and acquit the accused we never know.

    Rathan Congratulations! While nation watched live video of goons attacking women, you say it did not take place. Its natural girls may not wish to be identified publicly, that should be respected. Its a misery judge could not believe the live clips and punish the goons for few months in jail at least.

    Yes they could not appear in public to disclose the truth to file case in court - but they could drink bluff and what not under a dim light in bar - only bar attndent, server, cashier and owner of pub could see them privately - this is ok and their parents are not aware of this and only send money to study ??
