Mangaluru: Cab driver slaps woman accompanying Smitha Thackeray, booked

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru Mar 13: A car driver hailing from Beltangady reportedly attacked a woman passenger for questioning him about rash driving within Kavoor police limits on Sunday, March 11.

Driver is identified as Dayanand (30), a resident of Beltangady.

As per sources, two women from Mumbai, Shareen Mantri and Smitha Thackeray, ex wife of Jaidev Thackeray, son of Bal Thackeray, arrived in Mangaluru on March 9 to visit temples in and around city and Bantwal. They hired a private car from Mangaluru airport and visited temples in Bantwal.

On March 11, Shareen and Smitha Thackeray were returning from Bantwal as they had to catch a flight at 6:30 pm. During the journey, it is said that driver of the car was busy talking over phone while driving. Shareen Mantri and Smitha Thackeray repeatedly warned the driver three times for using the cell phone. It is also claimed that they narrowly escaped from an accident during that time.

After dropping the phone, driver Dayanand drove the car rashly. Irked with this, both Smitha Thackeray and Shareen stopped the car near Bajpe with the intention of taking another vehicle to reach the airport. This triggered the driver to get down and slap Shareen on her face.

Shareen along with Smitha Thackeray filed a complaint at Kavoor Police station later. Based upon the complaint, police detained the driver and produced him in the court.

Dayanand has been booked under section 279, 504, 354 and 323 of IPC.

Don't worry,be happy. It is a question of few days.Soon he will be released for lack of evidence and become a hero in front of public. He will resume his activities without any fear. This is what is happening in our Mangalore and has become a goonda district. No safety for the women in particular and general public in general.
Mere booking Dayanand-driver of the cab under various sections is not enough. He should be given punishment in such a way that other drivers should learn lesson from this episode.

What a terrible man?first telephoning during drive, second without accepting his faults slaps a woman passenger.Humiliating at the most.First slap him once the same way and cancel his licence immediately as a taxi driver.Such persons are not eligable as a taxi driver, and dangerous to women passengers.what tomorrow if he dares to go a step further ?punishment is a must.He must ask excuse from the woman.

After Mutalik and is gangster Ram Sena is acquitted of 'Pub attacks', everybody is emboldened to attack women for pity reason.
PM Modi praises Indian culture on women's day. While his social media follower abuse women with death and rape threat everyday.
In Mangalore you attack women and Judge Manjunath will give you 'clean chit'. New definition for "Bahu Beti Bachao Andolan".

Congress Phobia! Sir Mangalore constituency under BJP rule since 1992 for last 25 years. BJP's elected representative from Mangalore threatens burning his own constituency.
Don't you forget it is Congress government has banned him entering the district.

Are you in favour of pub attack by Muthalik and his fantastic organisation?
If you are responsible citizen of Mangalore please write an open letter to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and ask him re-appeal the case against his acquittal.
We Mangaloreans want you to prove you are responsible citizen and against violence against women.
    Can you do it?

Last week i had been to Sivakasi for my company work. I had to travel via Bangalore, then Sivakasi via Madhurai. I reached Gandhinagar ,Bangalore with my baggage. .Some auto drivers came behind me asking for auto/ lodging.(like when a dead body found on open ground, lots of volchurs get together for post mortem. ) I refused them all because I travel Bangalore frequently. Next day morning I reached Sivakasi, got down from the board, I found auto drivers who stand in front of their auto, I went near one auto and enquired about any good lodges around. The driver of that auto directed some lodges, and said that no need to use auto because it's a walkable distance. Then I said him thanks. He just smiled and said' anne remember good experiences in Sivakasi. '. We boast about clean city, garden city ..smart city. But people ? Somewhere lacking. ....so many things. ..decency. ...manners. ...humbleness. ..

Dear D'Souza..Your story reminds me of some posts in FB about Chennai...If you get into the crowded bus, and bus conductor is standing another corner, you can give money to next passenger who will pass it to next..finally it will reach Conductor and in return you get the bus ticket with change in the same style....!!! I don't know whether it is true or false..but definitely interesting...

Yes you are right. I work in Chennai and people here are really good and so cooperating. I travel in city bus and i get my change properly even if stand at other corner of bus.

I stay in Nugubakkam in mens PG and we have neighbors who are brahmin family stays in first floor. Generally after Feb- March till October (rainy season starts by Oct) there will be huge water crisis, we get water once in three days in April and then hardly once in week by Sept. But these orthodox family come forward and help us by giving their empty water tub to store the water since we are outsiders. They manages water for entire building. The lady whatsapp/ calls me and informs us to store water when they pump. Do you think in Bangalore people in such a way that too for men pg?

People are really helpful there. They never see us as enemies or outsiders.

I swear I was in Bangalore, people are horrible there. I cant explain.

Most of the drivers do not like passengers requesting them to limit the speed. 'When requested they would break the rule and would irritate the passengers. This driver not only used cellphone in the hand and slapped a woman.
What is the punishment (maximum). May be he had consumed alcohol too.
