Bengaluru: HC notice to Anant Kumar Hegde, C T Ravi over 'anti-Tipu' remarks

Bengaluru, Mar 9 (DHNS): The High Court of Karnataka issued notices to BJP MLA C T Ravi and Union Minister of State Anantkumar Hegde while hearing a matter regarding their derogatory comments against Tipu Sultan, the 18th century Mysore ruler.

Justice R B Budihal was hearing a petition filed by Alam Pasha challenging the rejection of his private complaint report by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court.

Pasha had filed a petition seeking directions to the Indiranagar police to file an FIR against Ravi and Hegde for their insensitive remarks.

According to the petitioner, he had given a complaint at the Indiranagar police station. However, the police has not shown any interest in filing the complaint and taking action.

Hegde had called Tipu a "mass rapist" and a "brutal killer" and had conveyed to the state government not to invite him to the "shameful" event of Tipu Jayanti on November 10 last year.

    Tippu sultan was no different to Alexander, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, or even Ashoka. He was Good to his subjects and Bad to his enemies. Comparing to the atrocities that the above said rulers did on their enemies are far worst in a single campaign, than what Tippu Sultan did in his life time

    HC should stick to real issues. I don't know if tipu was a mass rapist but he was definitely a brutal killer. So now, no one should be allowed to say the facts according to HC.

    If these comments were for electoral gains , it is wrong. Since its not required at all . Cong president is already campaigning for BJP in Singapore. Check the news 'Congress President Rahul Gandhi was startled and had no direct answers when someone from the audience, in Singapore, questioned his family's contribution to India.'

    why congress is behind making this killer a hero. Whether Tippu killed Hindu's or Christians.... Killer is a Killer. It's fact and we have studied enough on this. Ultimate problem creator is Congress and it's captain Siddu , for creating this problem in the state by declaring Tippu Jayanthi. Why unnecessary your trouble the harmony in the society. You do all these mess and then call those who protest as the problem creators. if you had not done this step, nothing would have happened. If fact, siddu should be booked for the public problems raised due to this Tippu Jayanthi. To get vote bank he and his party done it and now it's pay back time. you need to listen those scold and fire back. You can not file a case on this.

    My question to the government (present and previous) is why they started jayanthi of a man with contradiction ? Suppose if they celebrate Dr. Abdul Kalam's birthday, both purposes might have served. Addition of that Kalam sahab , (pride of India) could become an inspiration to our young future scientists. If that too is not okay, Meera Bai, Santh Kabhir, Guru Nanak day is enough for creating inspiration to younger generation. Here what happened is political tit for tat.
    High Court or supreme court notice can't touch these politicians. Pititioner got publicity. ...nothing more than that. ..

    If Saddam has killed innocent people he is a murdereer. If Tippu has killed innocent people he too is a murderer. We do not need Jayanthi for him as he is not a religious martyr. He killed others to enjoy his power. He died defending his power and his territory.
