Bengaluru: Lokayukta Shetty’s attacker Tejaraj Sharma is devout person, say reports

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 8: Tejaraj Sharma, a native of Rajasthan, who attacked and seriously injured state Lokayukta, Justice P Vishwanath Shetty, was a furniture contractor, and was supplying furniture in the name of his 'Sumukh Enterprises'. In his confession to the police, he said he stabbed the Lokayukta, out of frustration at his refusal to investigate complaint filed against corrupt officials although he had provided proof.

Vidhana Soudha police stated that the accused said during the questioning that repeated visits to Lokayukta office in pursuance of his complaint failed to get positive response. He said he had a knife ready with him before leaving his house.

People who lived near the rented home in which Tejaraj Sharma lived, say that Sharma happened to be a well-behaved gentleman who mostly spent time performing puja of deities whenever he was inside. Sharma, who lived in fourth cross, Someshwarapuram, Tumakuru since the last four years, had vacated his room and settled down in B M Thota extension since the last three months. Although he lived at Tumakuru for four years and had told the owner when hiring the premises that he was a furniture contractor, he never mingled with his neighbours.

"He did not have any vices. He always wore white clothes and gray trousers and always had vermilion on his forehead. He has several photos of deities which he worshipped frequently and had covered the windows and front door with red clothes. He paid rent promptly. Three months back, he vacated the house, telling the owner that he was doing so as he urgently needed the advance money," they say. He collected advance of Rs 10,000 and fixed a room in B M Thota extension with an advance of Rs 5,000 and monthly rent of Rs 1,300. People saw him going out of his home at 7.30 pm on Tuesday and he was seen next on television.

The police took over the room in B M Thota extension where Sharma lived. But it is learnt that they could find only pictures of gods and some white clothes besides a few documents inside the room.

Later reports say that Tejaraj told the police that he acted as per holy books to teach lesson to the wrong doers and chose Wednesday as an auspicious day for that.

Farmer Justice and Lokayuktha head ,Somashekaraiah Said:

Lokayuktha's power has been removed to save corrupt ruling politicians. so obviously Govt gave less importance to security of Lokayuktha. Karnataka had best Lokayuktha system in the country, but Congress came to power and diluted the system. And created a dummy wing called ACB, which comes under Chief Minister. Had same Lokayuktha system and Sathosh hedge been there, may Congress ministers would be in jail. Now we don't have any independent system to expose corruptions of Govt.

Do we want this kind of Govt? We all know earlier Lokayuth head Santhosh Hegde exposed BJP corruption, but good that same Govt kept Lokayuktha system alive, now we don't have anything, corruption and gundasim , daylight robbery are happening.

However devote he is towards his religion, and all day Puja, that doesnt give him the right to attack anyone and try to kill.He seems to be a Psycho type.Sometimes we too feel disguested at our justice system, but we dont go and attack them.He should be treated first in psychiatric ward and later punished for his act.Doesnt he have any family,?That can also a reason to go out of mind.

Later reports say that Tejaraj told the police that he acted as per holy books to teach lesson to the wrong doers and chose Wednesday as an auspicious day for that. If he was a Muslim and said "....he acted as per holy books to teach lesson to the wrong doers" Modi and his Chaddi team woud have sent NIA and CBI and he would have been framed with UAPA section Bharth Mata Ki Jai.

Justice Santhosh Hegde and another Lokayuktha before him - I can't recollect his name - were persons of unimpeachable integrity and had set very high standards of public life. This Lokayukhta Vishwanath Shetty is finding it extremely difficult to step into their shoes. He appears to be dancing to his master's tunes and enjoying life. It comes as no surprise to me that a person like Tejaraj Sharma had to resort to attacking the Lokayuktha. While I don't condone his actions, I can very well comprehend his feelings. This country badly needs people like Santhosh Hegde. It is not difficult to find people like Vishwanath Shetty but it is extremely difficult to find people like Justice Hegde.

He might have been a frustrated man because of the legal system. Even the government officials might have played with his business to swallow money in the deal. At least he had the access to go and meet the justice. Whatever may be his frustration, it doesn' permit him to harm someone else's life. Now he will ruin his years in the jail.
