Mangaluru: Police bust prostitution racket at Kodialguthu, female pimp, man arrested

Mangaluru, Feb 24: CCB police on Saturday February 24 arrested a female pimp and a man who were allegedly operating prostitution racket in a flat at Kodialguthu here.

Acting on credible information that prostitution was being operated in a flat at Kodialguthu where young girls were being used, the CCB raided the place and arrested Riyaz (35),a resident of Rehmat Manzil, Adyarpadav, Mangaluru and a female pimp in this connection.

Police also seized Rs 1,800, a mobile phone and an auto-rickshaw collectively worth Rs 1,61,800 from them.

The arrested woman was residing in the flat and earning money by keeping and using young girls for the flesh trade. A young girl from Kolkata, West Bengal was rescued by the police from the place.

The arrested accused and the items seized from them have been handed over to Barke police station for further investigation.

Police inspector Shantaram, PSI Sham Sunder, Kabbalraj and other police staff took part in the operation.

    Man ki bat on "women empowerment" is totally an eyewash. Modi govt targetting particular one community in the name of gender equality. Illegal brothels still operating in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkota. Despite knowing the plight of women govt turning blind eyes. Male dominated society treating women a TOY.
    Indian Law is vague and ambiguous when it comes to prostitution. Prostitution itself is not punishable under law but activities related to it such as running brothel, any act being taken out in public place, pimps etc. are punishable.
    The women and girls are abducted or kidnapped from various places mostly from Nepal, West Bengal but mostly are trafficked and against their will.

    There are many grievous consequences, when a woman or girl is thrown into this pit, Social isolation, Sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, Cervical Cancer, Branding etc. are only some of them. Prostitutiion is cancer to the society.
