Mangaluru, Feb 23: The prestigious 15th annual Global National Excellence Award 2017 by Global Leaders’ Foundation, New Delhi will be awarded this year to Dakshina Kannada District Central Cooperative Bank president, senior leader of cooperative sector, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar.
The award is presented for personal achievement through national development. Rajendra Kumar led the bank for a long period of 24 years from 1994. He has succeeded in converting the bank that competes with other commercial banks by making it grow strong with several unique projects.
He has shaped SCDCC bank to make it equal to the nationalized banks by modern technology and successfully implemented the banking concept to rural and urban people. The bank with him as the president has received best central cooperative bank of the state cooperative apex bank award and NABARD award continuously for the last 18 years.
The bank had only 25 branches, total deposits Rs 64 crore, loans of Rs 46 crore and earned profit of Rs 42 lac when he took over charge as the president of SCDCC bank. However, the bank at present has 102 branches, has received deposits of Rs 3,201.64 crore, lent loans of Rs 2382.05 crore, has a turnover of Rs 5,883.67 crore and earned a profit of Rs 24.07 crore.
A news release from the bank stated that Dr M N Rajendra Kumar will receive the award in the conference of national achievers at Deputy Speaker hall, New Delhi on February 23.
