Mangaluru, Feb 23: "After the state assembly election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president, Amit Shah, will go into the cave for hiding and hibernation. Thereafter they will never get any reason to visit the state," predicted Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, Harish Kumar. He was addressing a press conference here on Thursday February 22.

"Shaken by the popularity of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, and faith reposed by the people in popular schemes of Siddaramaiah-led state government, Modi and Shah have been repeatedly visiting Karnataka. Irrespective of how many times they come here, affection of the people for Siddaramaiah will gain an upper hand eventually," he stressed.

He charged both the above leaders of branding the state government as corrupt in spite of the fact that institutions set up by the central government have been saying that Karnataka is at the top spot in the country as far as development is concerned. He challenged these leaders to take steps against the state government if they have commitment to what they have said. "All investigative agencies are under central government's control and the government at the centre has the power to dismiss state governments too. They can file cases and send the guilty to jail like the BJP chief minister and some ministers. What can they achieve by delivering speeches full of untrue facts by the roadside?" he wondered.

He accused Amit Shah of visiting the houses of Deepak Rao and Paresh Mesta selectively, and leaving aside houses of Basheer and Harish Poojary, duly branding it as vote bank politics. He claimed that Congress leaders have been visiting houses of innocent victims irrespective of their castes, religion or political affiliations whereas BJP which claims to be treating everyone the same way, does not visit houses of victims belonging to other religions.

Harish Kumar charged BJP leaders like Shobha Karandlaje, C T Ravi, Nalin Kumar Kateel etc of failing to visit Sullia and raising ruckus there about the murder of student Akshata by another student, as the offender in this case happens to be an activist of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

Harish said that Congress party will celebrate election of 27 Congress supported candidates out of 34 seats in Pudu gram panchayatm at Pudu village at 5 pm on February 24.

City mayor, Kavitha Sanil, party leaders, Shashidhar Hegde, Pratibha Kulai, Jacinta Vijaya Alfred, Appi, and many others were present at the press conference.
