Chikkaballapur: JD(S) worker chops off Congress worker's left arm with machete

Chikkaballapur Feb 23 (DHNS): JD(S) party worker Lokesh chopped off the left arm of a Congress party worker S Ravikumar at a saree distribution event in Gauribidanur taluk, on Thursday.

Police said the incident occurred when a saree distribution campaign was going on at Arkunda village, Manchenalli and JD(S) and Congress workers clashed over an issue of election malpractice.

Lokesh grabbed a machete and chopped off Ravikumar's left arm.

The 'Sankranti Suggi' program was being held under the auspices of Chikkaballapur MLA Dr Sudhakar's Sai Krishna Charitable Trust in the village in the evening.

Police added Congress leaders Srinivasa Reddy, Devaraj, S Ravikumar and Narayanaswamy were going door-to-door distributing sarees to women. They were resting in front of Ravikumar's house when the youth Lokesh attacked him.

At that moment, JD(S) workers were standing in front of a provision store opposite Ravikumar's house belonging to Goverdhan. They are Ramesh, Goverdhan, Lokesh and Narasimhamurthy.

Police said a skirmish broke out among the two groups about the saree distribution.

Lokesh pulled out a machete from the provision store and chopped off the left arm of Ravikumar and injured the others.

Police added When Lokesh attempted to strike at Ravikumar, the later tried to defend himself by blocking with his left hand.

But the blow was so terrible that he has lost most of his lower arm, below the elbow.

After administrating first aid, Ravikumar has been brought to Bengaluru for further treatment.

Manchenalli police have registered a case against Ramesh, Goverdhan, Lokesh and Narasimhamurthy who are all absconding.

A pall of terror hangs over the village currently. The police have ensured tight security following the incident.

Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy told DH that the actual cause for the clash is yet to be ascertained. "It will be known when Lokesh is interrogated," he added.

Horrible.Nowadays people go to the extreem to win political games, whatever the Party is.Why one should start to attract people by donating sarees or money to win?Later when they win or loose noone sees them.People will certainly choose a person whoom they like who has done something to their village or town, but not because of sari.second this fellow has gone too far .He is a dangerous dynamite to the surroundings.Just do the same to him ,with the same machete.life long jail.Injured fellow had luck in unluck. He lost his hand where he was supposed to die.wish him goodhealth.

The young man with a big Tilak gives the impression that he is a believer and should have been peacemaker and not destroyer. What kind of holiness is this? If you carefully look at our politicians - they are murderers, rapists or highly corrupt, all of them have, if not one, few tilaks on their forehead. What a insult to a peaceful religion. This young man should be given the same treatment and chop off not one but both the hands as he is not fit to live in a society.

With the greed and madness to win in politics people have lost all humanity.
It's all about power and money and a very sorry state of affairs.
I only wonder at the end of the day do people get peace of mind and satisfaction?
