Bengaluru: 'Wrong to blame Congress' - KPCC distances itself from Nalapad controversy

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Feb 23: The state Congress appears to distance itself from the controversy involving Shantinagar MLA N A Haris' son Mohammed Nalapad Haris, who is the prime accused in a high-profile assault case and has been remanded in judicial custody. The party may also review if it will be apt to give N A Haris a ticket to contest in the upcoming polls, in the backdrop of the event.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwara seems annoyed that the incident ahead of the Assembly polls is denting Congress party’s image.

"It is wrong to hold the party responsible for acts carried out by individual members. How is the party responsible? The Congress party is being projected in bad light. Definitely, it is embarrassing," Parameshwara told reporters.

"Though case involving Haris’s son and Haris getting ticket are two different things, the prospect of giving him the ticket will be reviewed. We will consult people through our observers. There's a process we have and if Haris comes through this process, he'll get the ticket," Parameshwara said. Haris is a second-time MLA from Shantinagar constituency in Bengaluru.

Parameshwara confirmed that he has suspended Mohammed Nalapad Haris as well as Congress K R Puram block functionary S Narayanaswamy, whose video spewing petrol inside a BBMP office is making rounds.

The KPCC president also lashed out at BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa calling him immature. It is wrong of him to call Rahul a 'baccha' (child), when he is the President of the Congress. "Given his age and political experience I thought BSY has matured but he hasn’t," he said.

Rahul Gandhi will tour the state for three days starting February 24. He will speak about the Mahadayi river water sharing issue, and talk about the government's effort to utilise 259 tmcft from the Almatti dam," he added.

Mr Parameshwara It is not the question of giving Ticket to Haris .It is your parties attitude towards taking action on Goondas who beat innocents .Your Parties attitude of supporting kith and kin of your parties MLA s and other party workers .Nalapad was youth Congress Secretary ,Vidwath's father says Nalapad has done several assaults on innocents why police didnt take action then?
Now you give ticket to another Mr Boris .His son also if does the same type of assault you will suppress for 4 years 9 months and then just before election you will suspend him from the party .You think public memory is short ?

Mohd.Nalapad will be out within 4-5 days. Things turn misérable if vidwath health deteriorate further in coming days..as its not showing any improvement. Congress already in a bad state.. Congress President's visit to the city will turn still worse.
It's nothing but effect of bhagyas and jayanthis and given free hand for criminals to roam freely and withdrawing cases against them.
In tumkur some months back.. a muslim sub-inspector assaulted his subordinate dalit women. Eeshwara Parmeshwara it falls into your home constituency. In short to inform if not thrown out congress it will become worse than taleban. Mind it.

I too agree that one cannot blame the Congress for the misdeeds done by an individual. The fact is that the BJP will try to take full advantage of this development and that will be at the cost of the Congress. Be that as it may, if the Congress wants to distance itself from this incident, it should stop handling this goonda with kid gloves and should issue directions to the police to deal firmly with him. He should be given a taste of his own medicine in jail. Thrash him and break his bones so that this sends a strong message to the children of MLAs and ministers to behave.

Parameshwara Sir, At any Cost Haris should not get the Ticket to contest the assembly election. Being a people's representative, he should have handed over the Criminal son to the Police, Instead he tried his BEST to put the matter under the carpet!!!!! Such people should not become the people representative. For your kind knowledge, just read the news of a Poor father in Kerala - Kasargod, who inform the Police about his son's irregular behaviour and sudden influx of lot of money!!!! Instead of Praising and Glorifying his own son for bringing lot of money he doubted his son and helped the Police to Crack the Clueless Case!!!! But with Haris and Mohammad is just OPPOSITE!!!! They are eligible to call themselves as "NAALIKE" instead of NALAPAD!!!!

We are not blaming congress for this incident. No one can predict such event. It's not congress mistake that this guy attacked.

But we are blaming congress for after the attach situation. Police are giving royal treatment to him. he is getting mobile in jail. Not booking him under strong sections. Police serving as if they are slaves of his family. We are blaming congress for mis-using police power. Put both father son duo inside jail for committing crime and father for protecting criminal and mis using power. Then we will accept there is no role of congress.

I agree sir. Please handle the issue seriously and sacrifice his MLA seat. Please don't support this appeasement policy openly. You're being trapped by Modi-Shah. Now, matter is 100 or 75 or 50 or is it still less. Majority is consolidating and you are not taking this seriously.

However, Having quoted that, in the case of Nalapad, The father miserably failed to teach morals and ethics to his own son. Do such a father have any ethics to become a law maker ????
