Mangaluru: National level chemistry fest ‘Analyst’ inaugurated at SAC

Mangaluru, Feb 22: St Aloysius College’s department of post graduate chemistry inaugurated its decennial year of the inception of ‘Analyst’, an intercollegiate national level fest at LF Rasquinha hall on Thursday, February 22.

Chief guest Dr Suhas Pednekar, Mumbai graced the occasion. He was escorted onto the dais by the president of the function Fr Dr Praveen Martis, Dr Richard Gonsalves, vice-principal of LCRI block, Dr Ronald Nazareth, HOD of post graduate department of chemistry, Dr Vinola Rodrigues, the president of Alchemy Association and the secretaries Gopee and Prateksha. The compere for the day was Ranjitha Acharaya.

The prayer was led by Priyanka Gladys Pinto and her team followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr Ronald Nazareth who officially welcomed the dignitaries present on and off the dais as well as the participants from various colleges.This was followed Dr Vinola Rodrigues who walked everyone present through the history of ‘Analyst’, from its inception to the now with her talk. She stated the importance of the fest and how it was a platform like no other wherein learning along with interaction takes place among students of various colleges.The chief guest was introduced by Dr Richard Gonsalves.



After the lighting of the lamp, a symbolic representation of driving away the darkness, chief guest Dr Suhas Pednekar addressed the gathering. He highlighted that chemistry is present in every aspect of a person’s life thereby suggesting that as chemists have a bright future. He suggested that E is equal to F, that is education is equal to future is the most powerful equation in the world. He claimed that education is the tool to understand oneself, identify ones strength only then can one improve. Furthermore he said that education is like mirror wherein once you achieve wisdom you must share it with the world to better enhance the world. To achieve success in life one must have aspiration, requisite abilities, adaptability,attitude, patience, effective listening and simplicity.

After the words of wisdom shared by the chief guest, the president of the function Fr Dr Praveen Martis delivered the presidential address encouraging and appreciating the bond between the staff and the students.He quoted the example of Pauling, the greatest chemist of the 21st century who achieved not only Nobel Prize for chemistry, but also the Nobel peace prize, a laureate who every young chemist must admire. “Furthermore, as youth who would be the future of this country, we must work towards the improvement of this earth,” he said.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Gopee the secretary of the alchemy association. The ceremony concluded with the college anthem.
