Railways to propose to build Ayodhya railway station as Ram temple replica: Manoj Sinha

Ayodhya, Feb 21 (PTI): Union minister Manoj Sinha today said the the Railways Ministry would submit a proposal to the Union Cabinet to re-construct the Ayodhya railway station as a replica of the Ram temple.

The minister of state for railways made the announcement after laying the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 200 crore, including Rs 80 crore for the reconstruction of the railway station. He said the proposal for the reconstruction of Ayodhya railway station as the replica of the Ram temple would be submitted by the Railways Ministry to the Union Cabinet.

“The government is concerned about connecting Ayodhya through rail to the entire country so that Ram Bhakts may visit the place,” he said. He said the railway station would have all state-of-the-art facilities.

Sinha said Rs 1,116 crore were being spent on the double track and electrification of Faizabad-Barabanki rail route and the work would be completed in 2022.
BJP MP Vinay Katiyar was also present at the event.

“The development of Ayodhya railway station was being discussed from the time of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. When its construction will be completed, then the construction of Ram temple will be started,” he said.

In 2015-16, a majority of train accidents were caused due to derailments (60%), followed by accidents at level crossings (33%).
The Standing Committee on Railways had noted that one of the reasons for derailments is defect in the track or rolling stock. Of the total track length of 1,14,907 km in the country, 4,500 km should be renewed annually. However, in 2015-16, of the 5,000 km of track length due for renewal currently, only 2,700 km of track length was targeted to be renewed. The Standing Committee had recommended that Indian Railways should switch completely to the Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) coaches as they do not pile upon each other during derailments and hence cause lesser casualties. Further, on average, Indian Railways has paid Rs 303 lakh every year towards compensation for such accidents.
Since independence, while the railways’ route kilometres have increased by 23%, passenger and freight traffic over the railways network has increased by 1,344% and 1,642% respectively. This suggests that the railway lines are severely congested. As rail accidents mount, new high-tech accident prevention system is yet to see light of day. Thanks to the uneven utilisation of funds, actual spending on amenities like foot overbridges has seen negative growth in recent years.

India’s death toll of 193 from train derailments in 2016-17 was the highest in a decade. But rather than accepting the gravity of the situation, the government has tried to silence critics by saying that the number of derailments has decreased under the NDA rule.
Under Modi government, funding for railway amenities has taken a back Seat. Amid Growing Safety Concerns Union minister Manoj Sinha idea of spending railway station worth Rs 200 crores proves the priority of government over safety.

I m still confused about your reaction. What you think about Indian railways or about India. Already introduced Solar Energy Train in delhi..having 16 solar panels up above in each compartment by which in coming days consumption of diesel is going to be less.
