Karkala: Dacoits gag, tie, loot couple of valuables, cash

Karkala, Feb 20: In an event that occurred on the night of February 18, dacoits entered the house of a couple by breaking open the door and looted valuable items and cash after tying the couple. This incident took place in the house of Vasant Pathak, a resident of Durga village near Tellaru here.

On entering the house, the burglars covered the face of Hemalata, wife of Vashant with a cloth forcibly and tied her up to a wooden pillar in the portico of the house. They then brandished a knife at Vasant and tied him up also and ransacked the whole house. There were five people in the gang as per the report given by the couple.

The looters have taken away a silver pot, four watches, two each of valuable Samsung and Nokia mobile phones and Rs 28,000 in cash. The value of the looted items is said to be Rs 49,000.
